I've been noticing lately that very few drivers open their windows any more. Almost always I have at least my driver's window open, even in rain. But it's been warm to hot here lately, so I open both sides. All around me are people in these newer cars, I presume running their air conditioners even in perfectly comfortable weather, sealed into their boxes so no air transfers in or out. (I figure then that I don't have to turn my radio down at stops.) An open window seems like an integral element of the driving experience. I'm not sure how far I could go without the irresistible impulse to open the window. Likely about as far as a dog could go without trying to poke its head out in the wind. Is it all part of an evolution in human behavior, caused by an evolution in automotive design?

Gary --hello Sir
Great point

Must be honest --my new baby has all the modern dual aircon --blah blah blah ..
and yes i use it when its really hot ----

But i do turn it off when its pleasant and crack the window open --something about the wind in yer hair...

best wishes..

chris

The modern human ape by its nature is fundamentally flawed therefore why would that species allow a few of its kind to take charge of the rest??

First thing I do is crack the window after i shut the door! What ever the weather force of habit, you do feel more part of your surroundings and the smells and sounds of an older car, but I have driven an air conditioned car and although you miss out on all this, it is nice to be cool in the hotter temps :)

Transit elbow, can't beat it! Of course it'd be the left arm Stateside.

My head just clicked again -- If you drive with the windows up, it's more like a proper phone booth environment, which is what drivers expect and demand now, and who ever took their dog into a phone booth? (I mean, for any legitimate reason...)

Agreed folks. . . .window always open and in the Capri roof too . . .or tilt on a 'bad' day.
The daily has air-con but again, it's God's Air-con for me, even in that.

Did I just say that out loud?
