Even my Ford Manual printed for California owners has a special section included for South Norfolk. It clearly warns against stopping the engine within a 30-mile radius there.

Harleston. When the car starts and is warm then there is no problem. There is fuel getting to engine so I'm thinking possibly auxiliary air device or warm up regulator. But I'm no mechanic and tend to end up breaking more things than fixing them.

Could be maybe a gummed up valve/regulator? OR perhaps the vacuum pipe on the cold start valve is perishing and leaking the vacuum intermittently hence it not always being a problem?

Sorry chaps didn't notice this
yes happy for a PM and see if i can help...
If its any consolation mine will hesitate when cold (and especially if its been standing) --starts, runs and then dies--and then it will start all is ok..can be a bit fluttery until its hot...
Bosch K jet is now getting old as an idea and also old if yours has never really been updated ---- and the new petrol's and additives etc dont help --can tend to upset the old seals.
As said give us a PM and we can compare cars and any issues.

Back in the day when I was a Volvo mechanic there was a lot of Volvo’s with K-jet fuel injection.
The cold start valve will only be active a couple of seconds, 5 or so. Max 20 sec I’d say with temps below zero.
If the auxiliary-air device is blocked/fully opened the engine would still run if you’d press the accelerator pedal.
If the engine is running on idle, but hesitates on acceleration, and/or dies at first touch of the accelerator pedal, and/or is overall hard to start up, but everything is fine when hot, I’d say there’s an 80% chance the Warm-up regulator is the problem.
There’s a way to check this without special equipment:
There’s a fuel line going from the centre of the fuel distributor to the warmup regulator. When engine is idling, open the banjo bolt on one of the ends on this fuel line. (The line is pressurised so there will be some gasoline spillage/spraying. Cover the bolt and spanner with a paper towel when opening)
If the engine revs better with this banjo bolt loosened the warm-up regulator is blocked.
HEY! I've been a member of this forum since 2012 - But this is my very first post. ABOUT TIME I'd say
