Anyone know if the capri stalks are the same as Escort Mk2 ones? I've seen "new" ones on ebay listed for capri, but the part number seems to be for a mk2 escort....

Not sure but I know there is a difference between early and late Capri ones, changed I think some time during the 70s. Though they look the same and the connectors appear to fit they are internally wired differently so are not interchangeable. I discovered this the hard way a few years ago when I went to replace the stalks on a 7esqu kit car i was rebuilding and ended up having to rewire the car to suit the new stalks.

facelift Mk1 Capri - into Mk2s, the headlamp triggering is different to later models ..
and its not at the change from single to triple stalks either!
the relays aren't interchangeable, the stalks aren't interchangeable ..
also there are Mk2 Capris out there that do not have a headlamp relay and the HLs are fed thru the fusebox .. again these stalks are different ..

Just a wee V8, hopefully Rumbling again soon...
