We went last year, it was an amazing trip and well worth the long journey. The Ibis hotel is about 200 yards from the museum where the meet is and its a huge place. We spent literally all day looking round the museum at old cars, planes which you can walk into, spacecraft the list is endless. Plenty of shops and restuarants in the town itself to enjoy too.

Plan your ferry or train over, enjoy the drive and have a smashing weekend

Hi Steve. Parking at the hotel was fine theres was loads of Capris there. And theres a barrier on the exit so you need a token from reception to get out, fairly secure. Allow yourself plenty of time for a steady drive down there, the roads are fine but if I remember a bit of traffic through Belgium near the cities. Plus you'll need to stop for food, fuel etc.

The one pub we went to for food on the bank of the Rhine was fab, English speaking waitress and accomodated about 15 of us with no notice. To be fair all the locals seemed really friendly and helpful.

If the weather is good you'll have a fab time. When my wifi is playing nicely again I'll put some photos up off the laptop to wet your appetite lolol

Yeah we’re going next year same as you booked ibis but I’m doing a bit of a road trip through Europe probably about 10 days or so and somehow ending up in speyer
Not sure if the annual mileage of 3000 will do much good next year for the old Brookie 🙄

Fantastic trip last year! highly recommend it, my first time driving abroad, we convoyed down with the southern gang, and then after Speyer we gingerly set off on our own and toured to Bavaria and made our own way back across Germany and France, needn't have worried, 2000 faultless miles in 5 days in my daily driver 1.6 laser , i will definitely like to do it again in 2019! a few pics to give you an idea Posted Image
