Does anyone have or know where I can source a crank brace in the uk? I have seen them in america but trying to get locally before I resort to importing.

No one in the uk sells them as far I am aware, I tried for many months. I ended up getting one laser cut.

also, the guy who makes the brace above won’t post to the UK, tried that too. Plus it was about £350 for the brace, bolts and washers, with postage and import tax it won’t be short of £500. I did all mine for about £175

Thanks guys. I think I may go down the fabrication route. I can get the bolts no problem.
I know the rough size of the brace and from the picture / engine measurements it should be a breeze to make.

    Thanks Crash always the legend

Does this bolt across the brace internally? Not heard of this before

It bolts to the main caps and strengthens the bottom end for high reving and/or boosted applications, like this

I'd be quite keen on this if you are happy to share your hard work. Also routes taken with fasteners for both big end and mains?
What sort of safe rev limit do you get?

    Jon.

Yeah no problems, just need your email address. I just used hardened washers from head bolts (15mm thick) and some 12.9 grade Allen headed bolts, your local bolt supplier will stock them. You can use APR stuff but it’s mega bucks and if not a race car I won’t bother

If afew people want them you are best getting multiple ones cuts as there is normally a minimum charge on laser cutting.

my rev limiter is set at 7000 but I’ve never taken it that far other than mapping

I'll be up for buying one of these if someone gets them cut.

    Pm sent.
Measured the Bolts they look to be M12 x 80mm 1.75 tp on the outer caps and M12 x 93mm 1.75 tp on the inner caps. For anyone seeing this thread.

    Drawing sent,

you will need longer bolts than standard as you need to account for the washer and thinkness of the griddle. From memory I think my bolts were 115mm long

M12 with 1.75 pitch is correct

    Afew more bits of advise.

after cutting, trail fit the brace, rotate the engine and make sure the Conrad bolts clear the brace. If not shape the brace around these areas with a hole shaper.

There braces are nothing more than junk. it’s been proven that type of griddle actually weakens the bottom due to the been made of aluminium. The one above was actually used on the supervan 3

Why use aluminium?? I would've used high tensile steel as a minimum.
