    I've freed calipers off in the past by;

Unbolting it, leaving it plumbed in and using a piece of hardboard where the disc runs pumping the piston out and then working it back in a few times while giving it a liberal dose of silicone spray which won't attack the seals (Wynns do one). When the piston is extended as far as you can with the board in place, give the piston body a clean so when you force the piston back you're not dragging crap past the seal.

It has worked for me before - just a suggestion that could save you some grief.

Obviously when it frees it may damage the seal but I have always been lucky in that respect.

well that's about it for the year now!! didn't do bad i managed to make it to December!

she will be coming up home for winter so i can do a few repairs and sort a few jobs out! starting this week as ive no job!!

got a few cheeky bits of bubbling to sort and a few little rotty bits but nothing too major! might go for a last blast tomorrow.

but wither way wings are coming off to sort the strength plates as they have developed a little hole!! and depending on if i can source some rear x pack archs next year she will be a x pack!! maybe not a painted one but who cares!! i need to save the most of my moneys for a traveling trip in 2013 so paint might have to wait!

    ive broke it!!!!!!!!

havent updated here for ages made it up to the leeming run with no issues missed the Bomber run due to work! so all i was doing was driving it! putting some miles under me belt. but i got a bit silly other week driving it out on a B road blast and snapped me exhaust off! so has been immobile for a week or so but hopfully will be sorted very soon and will be ramming a few more miles under me belt! but i can afford to be even more silly with it cause my volvo is returning me 43.3 MPG!!
so it levels out my poor MPG on the 3.0! :thumbup1:

no pictures of anything yet! and i still havent fitted me fog lamps! :D

I was waiting till I could snap a picture but its not happened!!
Anyway I've calmed down a bit now!

Basically my old man spent loads of cash on new, dry (that's the important bit) garages to keep my car and his Tina in.
Anyway came to the car other day to give it a clean and some fresh air and its been damp in the garage and my whole roof is like a brail board hundreds of little bobbles under the paint. After closer inspection they are actually all over the car. :(
    I'm pretty gutted.
Anyway it's now got a new mot and I've bought it some new wheels but then it broke down on me yesterday so it's gone back in the garage!

    Humph

Holy crap! It's been almost a year since I updated this thread!
Not much has happened! I still have the car!! That's a start!!
It still doesn't have my new wheels fitted as had all sorts of bother with adapters and such.
Did 200 miles last year that was it! Disappointing! Spent more time under it than driving it!
It's still knocking from the nearside rear corner after the axle swap! And now it's got no tax!!
On the plus side have fitted a RGA rear spoiler.
Hoping to get some bits tidied up before a trip to classic ford show. Will Hopfully make it this year!!

Personally I'm kind of glad that the grille and wheels didn't work out for you.

That is a 3.0 Ghia Capri and in this particular modded v standard debate I'm staying firmly in the standard camp.

Hope you get that knock sorted out. It shouldn't be too much of a drama to find the cause. Shock absorber? ARB bushes? There's not a lot there to go wrong.

    So this happened...........

Managed to sort my knock out, don't know what I did! Stripped the whole back end down and then rebuilt it with inch lowering blocks and it's gone. There is now another noise but it's not a worrying one!
Also now taxed up so hoping the trip to classic ford show is straight forward!

Well this thread is now horrifically out of date!

The green machine is still with me. Its done next to bugger all since then.
Its been fully stripped, painted put back together then it got me to my wedding and then just back again. And now the engines out again!
Took it out on a Monday and the next day my little lad arrived 3 weeks early!!!!!
So now its a year on from that and the engines still in my garage! The poor old lass is looking a little sorry for herself

Fantastic, great to hear you still have this car. I used to enjoy your updates, crystal green is a fabulous colour.

Good luck with getting it back on the road,

And far better having a proper Capri II grill on it..
the 78 facelift introduced some sh!t body parts to anotherwise fine motor...
Slow & steady, you will get there

I do love these projects, life does get in the way unfortunately, I have a really big project on my list to do, but it would mean selling some of my Ford's, which I'm not keen on, but I may just get rid of my Japanese collection, too fast and they scratched the itch at the time.
I too like crystal green, had a Mk5 2.0GL estate in that colour, was a good solid one.

when ever I see Chrystal Green, I always think and imagine the view of Steve Cash's W reg 28i...
    080426bx.JPG

I do not like 28i Capris.. the engine to me sucks..
This Capri ticks near every box I can think of visually .. Beautiful ..
    Body Colour..
then accessory colour.. Mirrors, Grille, Headlamp Bezels..
here is where we see why Satin Black trims make sense, and colour coding makes things look cheap..

Sure there's been some beef about putting on capris on trailers backwards but it was an experiment as my old man says its better for our trailer.... I disagree. Back to the correct way round for me. 20210306_111431.jpg
    ANYWAY!
Its gone off to painters to get its damaged door repaired. Still looks good after a wash! Once this jobs done next is tap my mate up to make me an exhaust system. Id love a janspeed system but like hell I can afford that!

its a nice addition, but as you say, with a good mirror in place there is no necessity..
Keep your eyes peeled for the Taxi- FX4 fairway version.. designed for right Hand Drive use, the head angle is corrected and they work completely ..

the LHD drivers mirror looks good, but the angles are wrong so vision is impaired..

Car looks great, just the right mods and the black plastics against the paintwork IMO really suit the car. Are the badges going back on?

I only have one badge (well 2 really) on mine, up front.. and definitely no 'Ford' badges, they stopped supporting our cars, so I don't support them !!
