when i can move the car without smoke billowing from the front wheels!!!!!!!!!
smoke would just add excitment points!
I've freed calipers off in the past by;
Unbolting it, leaving it plumbed in and using a piece of hardboard where the disc runs pumping the piston out and then working it back in a few times while giving it a liberal dose of silicone spray which won't attack the seals (Wynns do one). When the piston is extended as far as you can with the board in place, give the piston body a clean so when you force the piston back you're not dragging crap past the seal.
It has worked for me before - just a suggestion that could save you some grief.
Obviously when it frees it may damage the seal but I have always been lucky in that respect.
sorted! for now! got 2 calipers to refurb
well that's about it for the year now!! didn't do bad i managed to make it to December!
she will be coming up home for winter so i can do a few repairs and sort a few jobs out! starting this week as ive no job!!
got a few cheeky bits of bubbling to sort and a few little rotty bits but nothing too major! might go for a last blast tomorrow.
but wither way wings are coming off to sort the strength plates as they have developed a little hole!! and depending on if i can source some rear x pack archs next year she will be a x pack!! maybe not a painted one but who cares!! i need to save the most of my moneys for a traveling trip in 2013 so paint might have to wait!
as you might have guessed X Pack isnt going on the ghia so shes just gone away, got a few jobs to sort but so far this is the only one i have done!
they arent mega silly bright but i can see them much better than before!
Nice dials you have there Martin :thumbup1: :thumbup1:
Led bulbs, removed the brittle caps?
Needs doing on all cappers really, looks awesome mate :thumbup1:

Looking good Martin :headbang:: :headbang::
well not much has been going on with the old 3.0! ive been driving it! even in the snow! ive bought it a little present tho! some fog lamps! havent got them fitted yet but they were £3 off the bay! came with proper brackets too! and to top it off they have grills on! so will have headlamp and fog light grills! :thumbup1:
no pretty pictures as yet but ill sort some asap!
ive broke it!!!!!!!!
havent updated here for ages made it up to the leeming run with no issues missed the Bomber run due to work! so all i was doing was driving it! putting some miles under me belt. but i got a bit silly other week driving it out on a B road blast and snapped me exhaust off! so has been immobile for a week or so but hopfully will be sorted very soon and will be ramming a few more miles under me belt! but i can afford to be even more silly with it cause my volvo is returning me 43.3 MPG!!
so it levels out my poor MPG on the 3.0! :thumbup1:
no pictures of anything yet! and i still havent fitted me fog lamps!
least it wasnt major
liking the dash lights very nice :thumbup1:
Cheers Steve! It's nice to be able to see your speed in the dark!!

Did you find out what the running issues were in the end?

Might as well tell us. Everything ok?
Yea... Just tell us, you know you want to! ! We are all on the edge of our seats!
Come on, what's the problem??
^^^^^^^ this ^^^^^^^^
It's later now
I was waiting till I could snap a picture but its not happened!!
Anyway I've calmed down a bit now!
Basically my old man spent loads of cash on new, dry (that's the important bit) garages to keep my car and his Tina in.
Anyway came to the car other day to give it a clean and some fresh air and its been damp in the garage and my whole roof is like a brail board hundreds of little bobbles under the paint. After closer inspection they are actually all over the car.
I'm pretty gutted.
Anyway it's now got a new mot and I've bought it some new wheels but then it broke down on me yesterday so it's gone back in the garage!
feck gutted for you mate!!
I bought it a present to see if it will start behaving!
Doesn't really fix the paint problem but makes me feel better cause its shiny!!!!!!! :woot_jump:/>
have bought it some new shoes but no pictures as of yet! they are been shinyfied! :tongue (2):/>
N the wheels will look sexy as fook too
Very nice sir, Im partial to abit of bling!
*runs off to grass you to bling police*

anyway new shiny 38 fitted and MY GOD!
what a difference! its so responsive and much more lively!! had a 2 minute drive and was blown away by the improvement!!
i want to drive it every day now!!!!

ohhhhhh interesting!!! :snack:
What's happening to the old wheels?
hanging onto the aleycatz incase i dont like what ive bought! but even if i do they will be getting saved for the year 2050 when the escort might be finished!! :boxedin:
Nice one dude can't wait to see them wheels fitted
New wheels with tyres on!!!!
Something very different don't think I've seen a set before so going to try them on for a few weeks and see if I like them!

LOL nick wants first dibs on them already!!! They do look nice, be interesting to see how the car will sit on them.
These are gonna look the nuts!! Glad you won em dude
hi martin wheels are very different but i like!!! looks like they have a nice dish to them .never seen a set like that before
pleased u sorted your carb issues out new 38 looks very nice
OH GAWD! on page 4!
well here is a depressing update!
IVE BROKE IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
few weeks back the diff made a horrible noise on the way home from work shortly after i wrote my volvo off ao i was vehicle less!
so this is how it stands as of tonight!
had a operation on my leg other week and was SO bored i swapped the grill! caused a stir on Facebook so i think the mk2 grill will be up for sale soon!
Holy crap! It's been almost a year since I updated this thread!
Not much has happened! I still have the car!! That's a start!!
It still doesn't have my new wheels fitted as had all sorts of bother with adapters and such.
Did 200 miles last year that was it! Disappointing! Spent more time under it than driving it!
It's still knocking from the nearside rear corner after the axle swap! And now it's got no tax!!
On the plus side have fitted a RGA rear spoiler.
Hoping to get some bits tidied up before a trip to classic ford show. Will Hopfully make it this year!!
Personally I'm kind of glad that the grille and wheels didn't work out for you.
That is a 3.0 Ghia Capri and in this particular modded v standard debate I'm staying firmly in the standard camp.
Hope you get that knock sorted out. It shouldn't be too much of a drama to find the cause. Shock absorber? ARB bushes? There's not a lot there to go wrong.
So this happened...........
Managed to sort my knock out, don't know what I did! Stripped the whole back end down and then rebuilt it with inch lowering blocks and it's gone. There is now another noise but it's not a worrying one!
Also now taxed up so hoping the trip to classic ford show is straight forward!
looking good pal
the spoiler looks spot on
nice to see your finally back on her :thumbup1: :thumbup1:
nice to see ya back on the road , spoiler looks great :thumbup1:
Well this thread is now horrifically out of date!
The green machine is still with me. Its done next to bugger all since then.
Its been fully stripped, painted put back together then it got me to my wedding and then just back again. And now the engines out again!
Took it out on a Monday and the next day my little lad arrived 3 weeks early!!!!!
So now its a year on from that and the engines still in my garage! The poor old lass is looking a little sorry for herself
Fantastic, great to hear you still have this car. I used to enjoy your updates, crystal green is a fabulous colour.
Good luck with getting it back on the road,
Would be good to see thread revived again
Miss my old car, glad to see it in such good hands, still remember the swap as if it was yesterday,
And far better having a proper Capri II grill on it..
the 78 facelift introduced some sh!t body parts to anotherwise fine motor...
Slow & steady, you will get there
I do love these projects, life does get in the way unfortunately, I have a really big project on my list to do, but it would mean selling some of my Ford's, which I'm not keen on, but I may just get rid of my Japanese collection, too fast and they scratched the itch at the time.
I too like crystal green, had a Mk5 2.0GL estate in that colour, was a good solid one.
This is also a good few week out of date but this is the current situation......
OK .. so you have changed the grille back to shitty 78 version ..
and a big V8 sized hole has appeared in the frontal area....
Looking forward to more updates, I love this car!!!!!
Temporary engine in the hole and got it fired up!
Once I remember how to refit the gear lever we will be moving under her own steam again!
Nice one Martin, nice to hear some positive news.
like an Essex, and they usually run very well with Pirhana ignition..
Great to see your still on it
just put a couple of clues together here!
Matin Drury? -
Engine came in from Capri Turbo (Col) ??
I managed to typo my own name on Facebook ♂️
Drove it there under its own power!!! First drive for almost 3 years..... about 10ft.
Off to get the door repaired next weekend
looks almost 'Chrystal Green' in that photo ..
also an interesting sweep pattern in the wipers !!
you changed the arms, or indeed the drive bars inside.. HeyHo..
I love the spoiler - am biased of course..
those wheels look great too..
would also say you have some interesting stuff sitting in the background as well .. All very Nice
i had crystal green on my Calypso stunning colour
when ever I see Chrystal Green, I always think and imagine the view of Steve Cash's W reg 28i...
I do not like 28i Capris.. the engine to me sucks..
This Capri ticks near every box I can think of visually .. Beautiful ..
then accessory colour.. Mirrors, Grille, Headlamp Bezels..
here is where we see why Satin Black trims make sense, and colour coding makes things look cheap..
Here's mine next to Cashy's at Elvington a year or 2 back
So its true then.. Steves is really a Foosty Silver ..
that really is a nice photo Oldskool ..
Fantastic, I’m chuffed to see this car getting closer to being back on the road, keep up the good work!!!
Sure there's been some beef about putting on capris on trailers backwards but it was an experiment as my old man says its better for our trailer.... I disagree. Back to the correct way round for me.
Its gone off to painters to get its damaged door repaired. Still looks good after a wash! Once this jobs done next is tap my mate up to make me an exhaust system. Id love a janspeed system but like hell I can afford that!
Pictures from the paintshop! Sounds like they've had a mare getting the colour to match.
All square again!
I like the colour and wheel combo ..
would love to fit a proper remote mirror on the left to balance my equilibrium !!!
Remote passenger is on the wish list but other things are priority.
its a nice addition, but as you say, with a good mirror in place there is no necessity..
Keep your eyes peeled for the Taxi- FX4 fairway version.. designed for right Hand Drive use, the head angle is corrected and they work completely ..
the LHD drivers mirror looks good, but the angles are wrong so vision is impaired..
Car looks great, just the right mods and the black plastics against the paintwork IMO really suit the car. Are the badges going back on?
I was going to re badge it but I quite like it without. Time will tell.
keep them guessing !!
I only have one badge (well 2 really) on mine, up front.. and definitely no 'Ford' badges, they stopped supporting our cars, so I don't support them !!
Now it looks like my car again. Grills back on!
Nice to see it looking good again, one question whats happening with the MK1 in the other side
Its actually for sale! I'm just too lazy to advertise it. Some lad said he wanted it like crazy and then has never done anything about it. That was a year ago I bet
what sort of money and what is the model
Send me a private message and I'll sort pictures and stuff
Happy 11 years of ownership BBD.
You're constantly broken but we've had some good times.
