My target for my mk3 completion is early summer 2019 so providing i have no major hicups i will be attending. However the 180 mile round trip concerns me, hopefully i will have had a few decent runs in it by then though.

90 miles each way, possibly a hour and a half journey?
we brought our capri down from Glasgow, 600 round trip, with no probs, went to Orkney in 2010 660 round trip .. Also did both trips with the General Lee Capri in 2011..
Capris are actually designed as long distance tourers - you should have absolutely no worries

And my 2.8 just did another week-long 1500-mile tour to Oregon and back, roughly 350 miles each way and touring the whole region while there. Nothing passed it the whole way home, now 342,000 miles on the car.
Made to be driven! :driver: :driver:

Providing i have had chance to have some good early summer morning blasts in it before hand i will be worry free, i wouldnt want to use that trip as a test run though.

Name the date and ill be there Fran!

Throw some extra oil, some extra coolant a few spanners and some duct tape in the boot. And make sure you have a full tank of fuel and your golden.
Capri's like to munch the miles.

Already getting a lot of positive feedback about next year's bomber run. After yesterday's visit to the cci I was good to meet up with so many people. And explain the situation the winter servicing of Jane was put back by weeks due to the heavy winter . They only managed to get the skins back on the rear tail fins on Friday this week !

Excellent, thank you. I've been here a couple of times now, and I attended the 2014 meet too. Still no Capri I'm sorry to say, but being Capri's 50th birthday, it's right that as many people make the effort as possible. I'm hoping a lot more people will turn out to mark the occasion.

I've decided I want high stress levels for this one, so after 6 years off the road the car is being mapped and MOT'd on Tuesday 13th, and hopefully any problems fixed by the 17th, then its first proper run will be to the bomber meet, so it might still be covered in 6 years of dust!

    EXCELLENT ..
the Bomber Run has long since become the best show / meet in the Calendar .. I'm sure you'll make it..
as will Rumbly (eventually) when he gets back rolling, I'm convinced the Bomber Run will be his return event, just haven't figured out what year yet ..

I seem to remember sitting on that upholstery!

UK members may be excused from attendance by submitting full medical charts, including x-rays and scans from the hospital, or a certified copy of a booking slip from the lockup. Such submissions are best made to Clare (She's a touch more lenient than Fran) by end of business today. All others are expected to be on site, making a big scene and leaving the charities better off.

Word from the garage is It'll be ready for tomorrow. Will pick the car up on the way through. I WAS going to turn up with the car 'as is' with 6 years of dust on it......but the Mrs has said that I can't arrive like that and it MUST be clean. So I may be a little late as I'll have to wash it at the garage :rolleyes:

You Sir really kick where it hurts ...
but you're probably correct about apologising to Clare.. nothing worse than a caring Wummin scorned .. much easier maybe to fox Fran ..

all joking aside .. this is the main event ..
and one day hopefully our Capris (including mine) will be there when Jane graces the skies again ..

My Thanks to Francis & Clare for keeping this going so far,
also I do hope Cashy gets up there too, the events I attended with that Trinity on site were some of my happiest ever 'Capri' days ever..

Just wanted to say I really had a great time today. Nice to finally get to the Lanc meet, even if I spent the 90min journey there on a stress level of 11/10 worrying the car may breakdown at any momento_O
Apart from the rather peculiar 'not stopping the engine until reverse is selected ' issue (maybe one for you @Clockwork Orange ) and a few warm smells it all went fine.

Nice to see a few familiar faces, some which I hadn't seen in almost 10 years! And some new ones too (to the forum member with the 2.8 with 15" RS rims, lovely chatting with you and your wife.......but being the wally I am, I never asked for your name...real or forum username! My apologies!)

Hoping I can iron out a few little issues - hole in the exhaust, rough idle when cold, the 'reverse switch off' problem, throttle return spring and gear lever adjustment - before brooklands and then get to that one too. Then I guess it'll be put away until next show season:oops:

I was a little worried when I was put in this parking spot though.....a Capri that was only just on the road (1st day out after 6 years) with possible electrical issues, being parked between the press car and a white JPS.....if it did go bang that would have been one heck of an insurance claim :eek:o_O..........the Mrs probably wouldn't have been too pleased either standing that close to it:D WP_20190817_11_29_27_Pro.jpg

It looks clean, and the memory of the stress will be as good as any other Capri memory, starting tomorrow. Well done.

    well done Robt,
you got there.. and I'm sure you will find the fault, sounds like you're getting a stray feed onto the coil wire, so that will be why its running on ..

and congrats, because I think youre the first person on the forum to post a 2019 Bomber Run photo on the forum ...

I still remember that first shot that was taken all the way back then and posted up on the 'old' old forum. It took 10 years but I finally got to go! Thanks to the team behind all the organization this year...Do you reckon we can get over 100 Capris next time??
