Good News Everbody! Charlie is sold and going to a good home where he will be brought back to his former glory. Due to lock down he has to stay here for a while though. Finn.
Saw that.. I do believe he has great experience in rescuing Capris.. and now we have the caravan, we skirt Dumfries regularly..
That shows how not all humour translates well in post, I meant your welcome to visit anytime like Clockwork
Charlie arrived today and is parked up prior to his MoT next week, it was a pleasure to deal with Paul and I am very happy with the purchase. The plan is MoT then rolling resto. I have promised Paul I will keep him updated and will start a build thread when I work out how to post images. Thanks again Paul your a real gent. Kenny
Cheers Kenny, it was a pleasure both ways. I know he has gone to a good home and you will bring him back to his former glory. Great result all round. Paul.
I know Charlie, new name needed? Bonnie Prince Charlie? Has gone to a good home. Am looking forward to the build/restoration (No pressure there then) thread. Paul.
The car will likely always be known as Charlie regardless of what I call it so it’s pretty much stuck with Charlie.
hmm .. as a fervent Scot, wouldn't go BP Charlie straight away - young pretender and all .. Charlie is fine.. I have just watched the Italian Job - Charlie Croker - cheeky chappy.. right hang on chaps, I've got a great idea..
Big thankyou from down in the Fens. Charlie was named after Pats Dad, who served on MTB's in the Med during WW2. Was wounded and treated in Malta. The Navy then forgot about him and when he was healed he had like a week off. Went down to the Navel base to report in as fit for duty and they basically said, Who are you! He could have sat the rest of the War out! But he did not and went back to serve. The MTB crews, English and German had great respect for each other, as it was a very dangerous posting. When the War ended the German flotilla would only surrender to the most senior British MTB Officer on the Island. They formed up and sailed into Grand Harbour, all flags and pennants flying. Moored up and their most senior Officer stepped off onto the jetty and formally surrendered. Finn.
