Parked out side my house, not in the off road car park as people open doors on it, so I parked it out on the road.

This happened to one of my other 280's 2 years ago, lucky a neighbour saw the person that done it and stood infront of the vehicle as they went to drive off.

    No such luck today though....

If I catch who ever done it, I will be denting their head like they did to my wing.

Really peed off as I only got it out as I was going to fit the Janspeed stainless manifolds and system to this one, but noticed I didn't have any gaskets for it.

    People don't give a s*** these days!
Not a hope they didn't realise they'd hit you.
Devastating mate, I know how I'd feel

My missus did the same to a car in asda car park, left her name and address and number and apologised.
The nice man then demanded 600 quid from her for the repair "not go through the insurance".
Needless to say I got involved and we got it settled with a mobile dent repair guy for 100 quid.
Why is everyone either out to make money or not willing to take responsibility for their actions, pi55es me off.

    Your right, people don't care.
They just see it as an old car, and have no idea.
What gets me is there's a strong chance it's someone I know and that they have just driven off.

Even worse if it is someone you know as they will know how much time and effort you put into her.
Is there a chance it will pull out, I can't see any paint damage? Fingers crossed.

I think that you should brace yourself for a letter from a No Win No Fee Lawyer, the R.Sole that hit you will most likely sue you for mental anguish caused by them hitting your Capri. Finn.

Sorry to see this, but glad it's not so bad to make it worth driving away from. Hopefully, that will happen to their car.

It has marked the paintwork Stu, you can't see it good in the photo as its right in the crease of the dent.

Once the usual cars are back in the street tonight I will be going around them with a fine tooth comb!

I've calm down a bit now from the angry reflection photo!...

Bad news about the paint mate, sorry about that.
Good luck tonight with the search, I wouldn't wanna be the guy who did it if you find brookie paint on his bumper!

You have my real sympathy. It's ignorance of the highest order to do that and simply drive off.

Sorry for you plight as it looks a lovely 280. You will get it back to its former glory I'm sure.

I know how you feel! I was parked outside a friends house last week, sat in the car talking and a taxi came round the corner, wasn't looking and scraped all down the side of the car. He stopped but then drove off! Luckily there's only a scratch and no dents and it wasn't on the Capri! If it was I'd have chased the t**t down! :DeadHorse:

    capri obviously!
I would've chased him out of principle and called the police for leaving scene of accident svt. Its about time people learnt The rules and and learnt some manners..

In London near kings x some woman of a foreign origin hit my work can osr. I told her to pull over, but she just drove beside me when I stopped in the bus lane and said sorry and drove off. I then chased her and stopped her again and said pull over I need your details, she pulled over I told her I need her details as its work rules, she said ok sorry and drove off again... Third time lucky she stopped after some horn blowing, I got her details (she didn't even know her insurance company so probably wasn't insured) and left it there..

The damage wasn't bad but out of principle and as it was what I'm supposed to do, I get her details. But for her to assume its ok to say sorry and just drive off is terrible!

Was out for a ride on my motorbike last year round Stratford & saw some old dodder pull out of a parking space & scrape all down the side of a parked car, was so bad it took the corener bumper of his people carrier off.

Turned around & followed the bloke to get his reg, went back to the car & left a note on the windscreen of the car for the owner, hope they tracked the bugger down & made him pay ..... he knew he had done it alright, he thought about stopping then just sodded off :nono:

Hope yours isnt too painfull dude :headbang::

I had some scrap metal van stop suddenly in front of me in my 2.8 at the weekend and he had no brake lights, so got no warning whatsoever!! I've now ended up with what was a perfectly like brand new front bumper which now has big tow bar shaped dint in it!! Pointless stopping him as I knew I would get no-where with him!!

what a bummer, sorry to hear that m8, my bro in law is an ace panel beater and sprayer, if you don't already have someone to do it, i could give you his number as it's not far from Southampton. He has worked on loads of classics and if you mention me he will give discount.

ahh mate sorry to hear that. i feel for you. happened to my laser.
it was mint and someone reversed into the drivers wing, destroying it beyond repair.
nobody saw who did it but we had speculations, then two weeks later the suspect had about £700 worth of work done to his car, on the way home from the workshop pulled out infront of someone and wrote his car off!
honesty may not exist any more, but perhaps karma still does... <_<

Sadly not new --even if people feel that the modern selfish world is different.. had this several times and over many years.

Nice lady at work the other day phoned and said she had hit my car --i couldnt find any problems --she said she phoned because somebody had hit and run from her car only the week previous....there are decent people around.

still bloody annoying for you though --- nasty visual place as well.....

It's a sad reality these days that if you own such a car, no matter what the make, then you live a life of almost paranoia of where you use it and keep it. Shouldn't be that way but as we can see, people couldn't give a sh1te thesedays about other people or their property and so we have to react to that and act accordingly.

This is just ridiculous really feel for you this is some utter TWIT that needs a good talking too it obvious they don't care so I suggest you make some door to door enquiries and find out just who the hell it was ! I would make it quite clear that you will track them down then at least the message will get back to them even if nobody has the guts to admit it !
if it happens again after this ...
I would crime it with the police then if it happens again it can be investigate if it happens in the same location ?

Effing arseholes! Arsehole is such a versatile word and is seriously needed here! I was on a supermarket car park 9 years ago and i thought that someone had rested a post against the back of my 2.8..turned out it was the rear bumper!! Someone had gone into the capri, ripped the bracket and lifted the bumper denting the quater as well! Still angers me now...hope youre sorted soon matey.

I can see why most classic car owners are so paranoid about taking out or even parking our cars outside of our own garages.

This is precisely the reason people do one after bumping into cars when the owner is not around. It's not right I know but like you rightly said folks are out to make money . It's is also one of the reasons why my cars very really go any where other than cars shows.
