how is the accuspark wired?
Red wire to ---
Black wire to --
Alan...red to +ve of coil and black to -ve
Just red your post In Electrical about the red should go to a proper 12v supply so will try that today
Found a live 12v and connected up the red from the Accusoark ignition module...no joy.
I am now thinking that the coil may have chucked it so looking through the archives to see how to check if the coil is good!!...failing that I might get my mate and his trailer and you may find a wee Capri electrical project to amuse you during retirement!!
Tested the coil ( remember I have bypassed the ballast resistor) and getting 12.4v or so and I reckon the coil is ok....not sure if the accuspark module could have died on me but closed the garage door for today and will check more stuff today......
this is all from a car that we had running and seemed almost spot on and now not firing???,,,,,!!!!
its difficult but ..
the trigger unit is an electronic component, they prefer a clean power source..
powering the unit off the coil positive means that the power supplied is pulsing and insecure..
every pulse of the coil, created by the CB wire (the black) creates a pulse in the red..
Not even trying to fire...and that’s it’s a constant live on the red of the trigger unit
what like the positive feed to the coil?
Black/Yellow to coil positive
Will have another look tomorrow but it seemed fine
Checked all the connections to the coil and all good but no joy. This car was running great on Thursday after fitting the accuspark part...then died and now nothing. One last chance tomorrow and refit the points etc but getting close to ending my 46 year love affair with Capris and stick to escorts!!
is there power to the Coil and when spun over is the HT lead throwing a spark ?
Yes power to coil but need an assistant to check spark....tomorrow!!
