how do people clean them? You cannot get a brush inside them. Is there a known household chemical that’ll make the glass sparkly inside them?

I think Francis rattles them out with rice ..
just beware getting anything too caustic, its likely the reflectors will suffer ..

So long as the reflectors are not rusted, from memory, washing up liquid & hot water swilled around inside a few times & then finally rinse out with cold water & left to dry. Resurrected mine quite nicely.

Fran is the expert on this & will confirm or deny the above, don't think there was anything else, maybe kind words & happy thoughts spoken at the same time :D

From memory, Fran & I did mine in the summer so just dried naturally left in the garage, try carefully positioning them on towel, on a radiator in the house or put them in your airing cupboard.

Did the lenses clean up ok ?
