Had a really good day chatting to a previous owner of Biscuit today. After seeing a write up in the CCI mag end of last year, a former owner got in touch with Sally & passed his details on, which she duly sent to me but I "misplaced" until last week.

Took the plunge called today, had a really long chat which was really Friendly & informative. Was great to fill in some of the gaps, so that's the last 20 years sorted, just the first 16 to go :headbang::

Must spend a fiver with the DVLA when I get 5 minutes.

One thing I did learn, the manifold pipes were replaced, If anyone has a photo of the left hand side of the 3.0 engine & downpipes which shows the metal flexi pipe off the air intake & the bracket or plate, which is tacked onto the pipes, that would be much appreciated.

Mine doesn't have the plate welded on & the flexi pipe had disintegrated when the engine was removed.

Would like to reinstate this if I can see what it should look like :thumbup1:

Mine's still got the OE manifold with the air take off. I will take a pic in the next couple of days.

£5 for the DVLA info is money well spent.
I've had the info for the Escort and my old Porsche.
I'm now in touch with the escorts previous owner, who has sent me loads of photos and info about the car.
I was the 19th owner of the Porsche and I was able to track down loads of the owners. It also highlighted why so many owners (a repossession, owners in the same family and a few motor traders).

I've done a couple now. The one for my Capri just said I want to trace its history and where was it originally sold from because I want to make dealer decals for rear window / tax disc holder. Just write genuinely what you want and there shouldn't be a problem. Good luck.

    Same for me.
Just stated that I was restoring the car and wanted to build up the cars history file.

I always do it for any car, strange what turns up. I have had old photos, spare keys and even sold a car back to the original owners. Infact lost money on it as I wanted them to have it, they still have it to this day. Most interesting thing I had apart from my Capri history was an invoice for a negative sale. The dealer took an Aston Martin in and gave this car and cash. The invoice was an interesting document.
