As you can see from the picture my shifter hole has been butchered in the past.
Would one of you kind Capri owners who has an empty shell be able to measure the center of the shifter hole in relation to the support (where I have my tape measure butted up to the rise, in the picture).
I know this car was an auto originally however the center of the round manual hole is what I require.

    Thanks

is the strengthening pieces and distance to the 'round' manual shifter hole the same across early Mk1 to late Capri II..
am thinking if the later car is a 5speed, the hole will be more square, and the centre line slightly further back ..
just trying to help a little ..

Good thought, We only had the Mk1's over here so only know of the round hole, does the hole have to be cut when doing a 5 speed conversion on the Mk3's?

    when I did my Facelift, GXL3000.. from standard type5 to the T9 5speed ..
had to re-drill the cross member to move it back a bit, and I think, but cannot remember exactly, that I altered the hole in the shell..
Dang! no photos .. it was around 1990 ..
