Ex race cars although bare of the essentials are normally solid shells. Looks great
No battle scars or stone chips, totally unfair. But you're still welcome here.
I was eyeing that up. I was seriously tempted.
Beautiful thing indeed!!
welcome, looks a bit of a tool, whats the plans for it, and being an ex race please say it has the Essex in it
Looks extremely tidy.
What series did it race in, or was it built to race and not been in mortal combat yet..
Any docs you can use to get it back on the road?
The engine has been taken to its limit, 3.4 litre think its bored and stroked, some work done by Ric Wood, it also has a straight cut quake box and an LSD. It was raced some time ago in historics
and thats what i plan to run it in, next step is to see what it needs to bring it up to spec and try it out possibly in the next few weeks on a track day, its purported to have about 300hp so should be pretty lively
That should have been a Quaife box, sausage fingers ...
There's a series called BOSS which has a couple of Capris running in it a guy called Simon but known as Quadcamcapri on YouTube has started to race in this series and at present runs a Ford v8 quad cam engine, really nice guy, I think the series is run along side the classic series
Cool thanks for the info
Welcome, at 17, with a 3litre Capri, I had my own race series, it was overtake anything that moved, it is a wonder I am still alive and l only had a bog standard Essex, oh it did have a K&N so that was worth 50bhp.
Thanks, me too, i had a 3 litre GT Mk1 that allegedly had an RS3.1 engine, regardless it was quick and i used to leave everything for dead, that was followed by an ex police 3 litre MK2 which was a proper shed, surprised I didn't write them both off the way i used to drive them, its funny now 40 years on I have to admit some trepidation n about racing this one being used to ABS, traction control etc for so long ...
Same here. I had few mk1 facelifts when I was 17/18. I would buy them, clean them up and flog them on. The last one I had was a 3.0 GXL It was a rare car because iirc, it had a factory sun roof, and it was jet black, without a vinyl. Trouble was it had been ‘furred out’ inside (anyone remember those days lol). It took me weeks to get the fur out and remove all of the adhesive lol!
I also remember having a 3.0 GT Facelift. This had the large single rectangular headlights, and the large rear lights, but didn’t have the plastic grill panel between the rear lights. It was Orange I think.

Gorgeous car. That's the second time I've heard of the good work Rick Wood does today.
