    All,
I don't know if I'm behind the curve here but I found www.capri280.co.uk after seeing it mentioned in CCI this month (calm down Finn :) ) and they mentioned they have a sponsorship deal with Abbeyfields Insurance.
Thought it couldn't do any harm so gave them a bash.

Best quote up to that point was Lancaster, but Abbeyfields beat them.
The direct match on like-4-like premium was £1 more than Lancaster but they didn't charge for Agreed Value whereas Lancaster wanted £18 for it.

Dealt with a guy called Stuart and I'm happy to say was pretty pleased with the whole transaction.

BTW . . .they don't just do 280s (obv) . . .They do the lot.
Just thought I'd put it out there as I was unaware of the name until this month.

    DM

That's pleasant to hear, but for a fuller assessment of insurance, I think it's worth considering the company's treatment of claims. Less important if you never have an accident, but if you need to use the insurance, do they stand by you or make excuses why not, or play tactical games to dissuade your collection? There are some I wouldn't deal with at any price, and a few worth paying a touch more than the minimum.

Three months and I'm still waiting, many years ago I had a very bad experience with Admiral insurance, I would never use them again, Ageas same, they all want your money, touch wood never had a claim with a classic insurance policy, but I would imagine they are in the same league as giving you bugger all for your pride and joy, even if it is agreed valuation, sorry to be so sceptical.

Not classic but just a warning. Nearly 8 months ago I had an accident, not own fault. Insurance was with AXA, they also have Swiftsure btw.
I've had to get the Financial Ombudsman involved because AXA have in effect, done bugger all apart from the odd text or email.
Fully comp with that standing for ninty days whilst abroad and in the EU.
They tried to get out with FC only lasts for two months! Bearing in mind the accident was Oct 16,renewal was Aug 28th.Someone didn't have a Callender and calculator in front of them!
Avoid AXA like the plague, they are absolute Rubbish. Financial Ombudsman is as appalled as I am at this companies antics, especially as AXA have acknowledged they have been out of line in dealing with my claim. Was offered £150 compensation by AXA, you can probably guess what my response was.
Just stay away from these crooks!!!!

Had the same trouble with Bollington Insurance Brokers, had a non fault accident in fact I wasn't even in my vehicle but stood in front of it, a women reversed straight into the side of my van and then tried to drive off.
I have been with Bollington for over 12 years, never had a claim until this one and they done absolutely nothing in getting this claim sorted. I would still be waiting if my partner didn't contact the 3rd party insurance company to chase them up over the claim.
It took 9 months and countless hours on the phone to my insurance company to get a payment. Bollington's Claims handler was very rude and unprofessional and we ended up making a strong complaint. We didn't even get offered compensation and now wished I had gone down the Insurance Ombudsman route.
They will never have my business again, roll on August when my policy ends.

I was with Coops insurance, who are an insurance broker. A fella called Ian Reynolds runs it. Absolutely top notch service and he did all the fighting for me.

I won’t be going elsewhere unless he closes. Can’t recommend him enough!

I've been dealing with Ian at Coops for the last few years, always helpful & understanding, thankfully never had to put it to the test & hopefully never will.

Another .........bad experience with Admiral , I have a multi car policy , Capri , Mitsubishi and the DBS , on paperwork its cheap £1100 for all 3 , fully comp with 25years protected NCB .. However my experience with having to claim on the wifes Mitsubishi ... £8k last oct for damaged EV battery was an eye opener i would not like to go down that road again ... they are cheap for a reason .... bloody useless , just got the car back after nearly 3 months of playing ping pong with their preferred repair shop ..... "Arfur daley motors " .. they investigated themselves as i was on the verge of getting financial ombudsman involved ....

what really made me angry was when after 6 weeks "Billy no mates " at the preferred garage phones the wife ..." good news your car doesn't need a new EV battery ",,,,,, when i phoned the fuck tard back and said explain why ???? ..." well sir we did a test ...its ok ???

"what about the damaged battery casing letting in water to the cells ...making it a safety hazard ?????

garage .....no comment !!.but you can collect it !!

I resolutely demanded the car was taken to Mitsubishi for a technical report ....which i paid £150 for ... Admiral tried to talk me out of it ,,,,and when i said take the car from repairers on a recovery truck to the dealers ,,, they refused ..... so the prefered garage drove the car in the rain to the main dealership .. ( 100 miles on the odo) .. and i had Mitsubishi inspect the repair

It was not good news ....more water had egressed from the cracked casing ,, via 3 cells causing more damage it was a potential safety / earthing hazard ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

i quite enjoyed sending the report to Admiral .......when the penny finally dropped .. i 5recieved compensation for the bills and inconvenience ... it still took another month for Mitsubishi to get the part and fit to the car ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but what if id accepted their word , driving a potential time bomb ... as Duncan Bannatyne .. said I'm ooot

Just dont use LV, again cheap for a reason, 8 months down the road, they've sold my car as salvage and drawn for it from Co Parts, BUT I still have not been paid out, an absolute joke, I did go on line for my new car, but decided against the cheap quotes, went for an inbetween price and it's with Aviva, time will tell, if they are any good, unless someone knows horror stories about them.
