I've had a chap in Spain contact me for some info please folks. I sent him some fog lamp brackets a while back & he has asked if I can give him some info for the positions of the rear badges...

    Here's his e-mail questions

    Hi Gary
    Glad to talk to you
Let's see, I tell you my problem with my Capri
This is my baby, as you can see it is missing the letters FORD and Capri and badges
I need to know the measurements and the distances to be able to place them in their original place
Do you think someone with mk1 can help me?
Thanks Gary and sorry my english
    Jorge

Hopefully now some pics of his car

I understand why he wants them back on, but look how cool the wee buggy looks without them ..
only one advice.. do not drill the panels to fit the badges..
smooth off the badges and fit using proper body tape, like the moderns are done now !!
also beware - I think we have seen before, that the spacing of the letters can be different dependent on age !!

Fairly certain that Elliot broached this subject on the Mk1 he was involved in..
Also thinking that Wim C on here will have those measurement to hand !! ..

must admit - I hope Jorge gets on here and starts showing this wee beauty in a Members Capri slot

I have 2 mk1s at work which are in bare metal so i can compare the two bootlids and give dimensions of the hole positions if that helps.

That is exactly what is needed please mate.

WinC has just PM'd me that he will also measure one he has. It would be great to compare all of the dimensions to compare them as the honourable member for elasticktrickery suggested that the positions could vary on the MK1's

    Thanks chaps ;)

Ok, so these following measurements are from an Australian delivered 1972 v6.

So I drew a vertical line down from the centre of the lock hole. All the horizontal measurements are from that line either to the left or to the right depending on the hole position.

Holes to the left hand half of the bootlid. Horizontal measurements from the vertical line outwards. Vertical measurments are from the lower lip of the boot upwards measureed with a flexible lathe rule.

Holes to the right of centre.

Measurements to the far right hand holes.

Hi Elliot, I just took a sneaky peak on here while at work, many thanks for all your efforts. This needs saving for other MK1 owners in the future.

I have emailed this page link to Jorge in Spain, just had my mate at work test the link as he's not a member & he can see it so hopefully Jorge will do too.

Thank you again for all your help ;)

Had an email off Jorge earlier, he was very grateful for the info chaps, he has been trying to find out for a long time what you guys sorted in hours :) & says he will try & register on the forum.

The car is a 1971 1600 GT XLR

Hopefully he registers on here soon ;)
