hope you don,t breakdown , forget the fuel costs, driving a classic is not about that, it's about enjoying the experience of driving it.

Oh, good to hear. I was just thinking as I viewed the pics, "If it was just cleaned up a bit, that could be a presentable car...." :)

But seriously, that's exemplary care. Lucky Capri.

cleaner than a clean thing being cleaned
Outstanding car and so good to hear its driven no mater what the weather, and not just parked up, one thing ive noticed and you seen the right person to ask, on the later capri the tailgate shut area has rubber blocks to help align when shutting did the MK2 preface lifts not have those as ive seen this on a couple now and got me curious as to if they were fitted or not

Thanks .some of the pics are a year old so theyre missing there.i eventually found some decent ones so theyre rivitted back on. Im not sure if a mk2 had em to be honest.its actually a different tailgate off a mk3.previous owner said, im not sure as it has the old glass and rubber fitted.the windows stuck in.and the blocks where missing.the blocks ,clutch inspection hole rubber gaitor missing and lower gearbox plate which were hard to find.still need the last two. The gaitor is just for the 3.0 4 speed box .if anyone has one id love to buy it

Theyre factory right but i dont like em .i nearly altered em.

Many thanks. I got it off my stepdad whos now 70odd years old.his dad bought it him when it was 3 years old.it had a massive restoration in th late 80,s wich cost him £3000 a lot of money then .everyone at the time thought the car wasnt worth spending that much on but im glad he did.he used to tow a trailer as well. My mam used to drive it . Shes about 4 ft haha i remember she used to have a pillow behind her and sat on one as well haha.she spun it on a roundabout int rain once.one day she was driving home from work in manchester and a police capri pulled up at the side of her and said il race you to the next set of lights .and she said she did and dusted him pmsl.i dont believe her haha memories.all ive done is shove a rear lower panel on it then tart it up.

You'll miss it if you sell it and where would you get another one as good, l know I'm stating the obvious, I'm in a similar place with my MK1 GT Cortina, I love the look of them, they just don't go as fast as I remember and that's the same for my 3.0 Ghia, the forecast though is classics are still going to increase in value.

Yep your right.the capri was always going to be mine i had/restored a series one rs turbo and should have kept it to be honest.but i sold it to spend on the capri.the car shifted. Unlimitied chip.kent cam.better turbo.170bhp over standard .loved it.i thought of upgrading the capri but not much to gain for bigger money.i really need to keep it and get something else as well o_O il see what happens.thanks

It’s not a nice dilemma I admit as I’ve been in same boat. But the cars I got to replace my 3.0 Ghia have given me as much pleasure if not more. Still wanting 2nd dibs though if you decide to sell but completely understand if you don’t.

Just really enjoyed reading this thru again ... that Capri II looks the nuts.. its just the right Everything - Colour, stripes, Glass, interior ..
I also like that it had a tow-bar in its life - I would have kept that to keep the nuts off yer a$$ ... well Done Taz:cool:

you mentioned somewhere you got the stripes off a guy in Scotland? Any recollection where Taz?
