It's not possible unless you cut away the overhanging bits on the front wings in order to fit the lights etc but why would you want to??

MK2 1976 2.0L GL (rotten), Mk3 1983 2.0L "S" (basically just the shell), MK3 1.6L Cabaret (nearest to being back on the road) - all in bits! Focus 2.0 Ghia Zetec for the daily drive!
MK2 leading edge on the left, MK3 on the right:

But as said WTF would you want to? I'm putting MK2 wings & front valance on my MK2 but it'll have 4 round headlights like a MK3 even if they from something else like a BMW. So much more opportunity to fit better lighting IMO.

if you gind back the top edge your going to end up with a lot of extra panel work and the bonnet will need a lot of work too !
oh and the mk2 lamps are not much better

I like mk2 lights on a mk3. Seen a few, I think mostly on German cars

there was a chappy in Belgium did the Capri II H4 lamps into a 78 .. think he swapped the lamps side to side to get the clearance .. you will need to doctor the relay to
become a change-over as opposed to 'dip' to 'dip+main' ... again quite easy ..
wiring alterations to cope are just plain easy. and tail-lamps go straight on

years back people use to convert their mk2 to look like a mk3 so cant see why it cant be done the other way
