Hi guys need to no if you use the Capri crossmember for the gearbox or do you need to make 1
If you originally had a 4 speed then you will definitely need a custom cross member. If you had a 5spd then I think you can get away with the original member - someone will confirm if this is correct.
The Capri ran way a type 9 also is the mt75 a pull type clutch like the type 9 or do I need to change anything.
Clutch is only may Need to mod the fixingpoint, if thickness on flywheel and clutch us difrent. This you check with put IT on and ser when realease bearing hit the clutch, when arm is as long back in the hole as possible. Crismember Need to be modded i think, since t9 and mt75 is not familier, but no big Job.
And can ad that the frog scorpio have hydraulic clutch. Also v6 and 4cyl is difrent just like on t9. So if have 4cyl, Need Mt from same
Sorry I should of said I'm doing the cosworth conversion
okay. then if you have from 4cyl Sierra, and dont do the 4x4 cossy front house(no need to do this, if absolutly dont need starter on oposite side, and run 4x4 starter). then you need to weld on a extra 1,5cm on the fixingpoint ball thing, for the arm. grind allitle inside the house(if dont bother, it will be some noice at first run, but will grind itself), so have free Space for the cosworth flywheel, and chop out a bit, for oildrainplug if cossy 2wd sump. and need to find out what starter motor i used...
copy from my tread, on a cossie i have With this Box as temporary Box...
startermotor 98AB-11000-CB With drilled out treds, and 1cm away from gearbox, screwd With upper and center bolthole fitted like a glove on cossy With 2wd doch gearbox(With 2wd dochbellhouse)
but With cossy, do you meen v6 cosworth or 4 cyl yb? :stunned:/>/> I am talking 4cyl yb...
on v6 you use flywheel, clutch, starter from the same, and gearbox from v6.
Here we start I've had the box made into the hybrid mt75 using the flywheel and clutch from a 2.8 Capri grannies starter oh it's the 2.9 v6 cosworth
okay. on v6 it should be flywheel and Complete clutch including realesebearing from same. v6 Box is all same pattern. starter I dont remember 100% but think it need to be from gearbox yes, but not sure about that one from the top of my head...
I replaced the type 9 gearbox with a MT75 in my Sierra, most 2.8's with a Type 9 box use a 3 bolt starter motor but the MT75 uses a 2 bolt starter motor.
You can use the 2.8 flywheel and clutch with the MT75 BUT you have to make an adjustable pivot point for the release arm to take up the difference in flywheel thickness between the 2.8 and the 2.9.
The release arms are different on a type 9 box and a MT75 box
If you're after a more straight bolt in conversion then use the 2.9 flywheel and clutch.
My MT75 just bolted up to the type 9 cross member but yours being a hybrid I'm not sure.
Also drive shaft needs to be modified to take the MT75
Ok done some mods today I've cud and welded the Sierra crossmember now fits great but gearstick in the wrong place to far back any help or do I need to cut out the tunnel.
Mod gearstick cradel and arm. Cut and reweld in whanted position. Also its easy to make quickshift on the stick
Just found that out before a read the last post.so another wee job to do the list is never ending and getting bigger.but just need to plod on.
