Whale tales are part of history, a lad near me did a SD1 V8 with a Kat Kit and a double whale tale, proper 80's go faster styling, I like them, got a picnic table on my TT GTO, that is for function, it's supposedly 500hp and it runs out of speedometer, so it's fast enough for the jam sandwidge boys to spend a long time trying to find it!!!! It wasn't me driving it honest officer.

    Cosworth engine, Cosworth spoiler :)
A cross between my 2 favourite cars.

If the head is ok I may treat myself to new pistons. Other than that going back as is. With a good clean and engine bay tidy.

My tail is being used as a bar for cider cans at the mo.
With pulling engine out and preparing the bay for repaint, I need a jar or two.

Good news, Tommy at field to the rescue.
He has an rs 500 spec head and new pistons ready for me next week. Another chunk spent but at least, with me and brother in law putting back together we know what’s going on with it.
So a couple of weeks time she will be back and running.

Was cracked at highest point of no.3. Showed me the video, a continuous drip.
Head was at its limit for skimming too.

Goes to show the last machine shop didn’t pressure test after porting.
He boring new pistons in for me. Pressure testing his head just to recheck.

    hope thta goes well ..
I note that up here since Covid restrictions being eased, property is selling like hot buns.. it appears that all the commuters who have discovered its easy to work from home are all vying for country properties with 'that spare room' to use an a office..
certainly where I live - mid way between Edinburgh & Glasgow - properties are selling quicker than ever..
    just check that Broadband !!

    Thank you.
The bungalow we’re looking at has been up for sale for a while now.
There is a housing development going up soon behind the garden. Think that’s put a lot of people off.
But we’ve checked plans and it’s not overlooked (phew). The new road going into it will break down the speed of the main road because of the mini roundabout.
Hopefully with 600 houses going up the broadband might get better haha.

one of the down falls of Norfolk is the Broadband but alot of areas now fitted with fibre optics now which will help, lets just say that i was brought up about 2 or 3 miles behind the Ace Cafe and would not swap Norfolk for going back to London

South Wooton is Kings Lyne telephone exchange area..
Broadband services are supplied by BT 21CN, Sky & TalkTalk.. all using the Openreach network
there is fibre to the cabinet, so using your postcode on BT - check for Fibre Broadband (FTTC)
youre only about 2miles out from the telephone exchange, so your service should be good...

Guess what I did before retiring in Mar 20

Let a cossie be a cossie and a Capri be a Capri. Both awesome. Separately.

It should be law that whaletails be ripped off all SD1’s and Capri’s and owners flogged until they see the error of their ways....

    Thing Is ..
everyones interpretation of their own Capri is just that - personal preference..
I like lots of things, wouldnt fit them all on mine, other people do the same..
so whether I like the next guys mod or not, the stand out thing is how well the mod has been done.. Workmanship!
god knows theres folk that get all uppity about how you must never modify, its sacred, it must be standard .. Well sorry but, theres quite a lot on Capri that Ford did that they should have known better!
if some Capris had not been modified down the ages, the chances are they may never have survived !! and now with the Fad of 'Concourse' going on, these cars are becoming undriveable!
look at all the years of developing rust barriers, waxoyling, mudflaps  etc .. aftermarket things to protect the car.. Copper brake pipes, not steel.. so now reduce it down, strip off those layers of protection
and be concourse.. then be to scared to drive in the rain, don't use it in the winter.. tis a bit silly - Ford Capri was designed to be driven, by all and sundry, all the time ..

so as with all - including engine swaps - good job done, smile and say to the guy - good job done..

ps - I will never understand engines being fitted with the dizzy against the bulkhead.. thats just voodoo .. whether its a Kolner or a Chevy..

there was a time when we use to jack the rear end up as high as we could have a red light pointing at the rear axle and also had side pipes slot mags, metal flake paint, murals, fake fur and a chrome chain steering wheel but to us it was the tits, at one point the whale tail was the thing to have and also you had a Fido dido in the back window

Sometimes things are not totally agreed upon by everyone in the room..
at end of day we help each other and encourage fellow members to enjoy THEIR Capri ..
theres always room for banter and a bit of leg-pulling.. usually understood when folk get to know or understand each others foibles ..

perceived rude & nasty is not the way forward..

After years of on off hunting I finally found some fx4 taxi mirrors for £70.
Now to get a mondeo switch and the tricky bit of wiring them up.

I have a diagram for that!
    Are you doing both mirrors?
You will need thee standard rubber gaskets off the Capri mirrors, 2x RHS items..

    Doing both mirrors.
Have a spare mirror for the gasket too.
Was going to pm you asking if you have a wiring diagram. Is it an easy job ?
Was going to take from the rear wiper wires as I don’t have one anymore.

your choice of power feed is OK would work fine - Fuse 6 Black/Violet from the dash, up the loom heading for the strut and the wiper self park, however dead easy to pick up in the dash at back of the square switches
    upload_2021-11-24_18-55-11.jpeg

I have 2 diagrams for serving the 2 mirrors, one using a Mondeo switch, one using a Suzuki switch ..
was actually figured out by another member on here - Dixon - and I drew the circuits up for him ..
havent seen him present for quite some time ..

Thank you for that. As soon as my engine is back in I shall wire them up. Will try and find a breaker mondeo and pinch the switch with a bit of loom attached to it too.
Going to paint the mirrors at work tomorrow.

    hehe ..
tbh .. if you have got a standard remote control mirror on the drivers door - keep it ..
then fit the left side electric mirror direct to a standard electric joystick .. that way you dont need to even touch the drivers door, no alteration to any door card ..
if you have altered the radio/head unit already yo have a ready made position for the joystick - the position used by the fader unit ..
4 wires from the mirror just go direct to the joystick, the joy stick has 2 wires then to power & earth ..
the wires out the mirror are simply 2 pairs -
    1 - Brown/Green - up/down control ..
    2 - White/Pink - left/right control ..
before I managed to site the control joystick, I was able to fit and adjust the mirror by running the cable & connector out thru the internal release cavity in the door card on the left side door, and flashing a PP3 battery across the pins to activate the motor..
yes, the mirror adjustment motor will work on a PP3 9V battery .. !!
where I put my left side mirror control joystick -

I think its better to keep things simple !!

I have some California style mirrors on there at the moment. So will have to take door card off anyway. Definitely another great idea doing that way too.
    Thank you.

unless you have a single toggle with a selector switch .. like the switches shown, or the modern style that you twist to select before operating like a joystick ..

but when I originally got my Joystick, it was out a Jaguar XJ6 .. a block with 2 joysticks in ...
