Hi All Been a while since I posted as no longer have a Capri or any other old classic for that matter - missing them. House is currently eating money... Been working my through boxes of old photos and found these gems of my first ever Capri and thought I would share with you guys. I was a skinny 19 year old at the time and bought it in Feb 1980 (it was a 1977 1.6S). My first shots are the day I picked it up and with my then girlfriend (now wife). Oh those were the days... Untitled by Rteyp, on Flickr Untitled by Rteyp, on Flickr Untitled by Rteyp, on Flickr Untitled by Rteyp, on Flickr Moving forward a year to May 1981 I sold the car and here are pics of the day I sold it. For some reason I thought it cool to put "General" white lettered tyres on - I think I was influenced by the Custom Car mags and Mustangs fitted with General Grabbers that adorned my bedroom wall . Having said that they are more meaty than the standard tyres. Untitled by Rteyp, on Flickr Untitled by Rteyp, on Flickr Untitled by Rteyp, on Flickr I sold the car and patiently waited for a 2.0S fully loaded. I waited and waited fro X reg...only to have the car stolen from Gates of Woodford 3 weeks before the 1st August. So instead I got the 1.6 Calypso which whilst I kept until 2011 never really hit the spot. This car is still around ... Untitled by Rteyp, on Flickr [ Thanks for looking. I'll be back in a Capri, don't know when but it'll be one that ticks all boxes />/>/> John
Gorgeous car. There used to be one round the corner from me when I grew up. It was one that got me into Capris in my teens (that and a Mk1 that was jacked up at the back with wide wheels on, but that's teenagers for you).
excellent set of photos .. you cannot beat a good record of good memories shame - this one appears to be no more no details on DVLA other than - Registration number: RLP 738R ✗ Untaxed Expired: 30 April 1986
Somehow I get the impression that you are on the hunt for that 2.0s you never managed to buy back in 1981 ..
Awesome pics. Both are very nice indeed. Love to see photos of yesteryear cars awesome...fashion too....maybe!! ☺
Hi John, great photos mate. Not actually a GTS (JPS) BUT, a very nice 'S' all the same :thumbup1: Thanks for sharing. Kev
I used to have one of these :thumbup1: loved it, yours seems to have normal 2 / 3 L S wheels - not the gold 4 spokes like mine had ! ? Lovely looking car all the same
