    Hey guys,

I'm a kiwi that lives in LA and I love building and modifying old cars. check my insta @zerorust if you are interested.

Here is my 1972 Mercury Capri 1972. This is what it looked like when I purchased it from the original owner.

    20201120_165108.jpg 20201120_165123.jpg 20201120_165134.jpg 20201120_165146.jpg

Note the ugly US federal compliance bumpers. For some reason this 1972 Capri would have still had the smaller euro bumpers when sold new here in the US because only beginning with model year 1974, 5 mile per hour bumpers were required on all new vehicles. The owner must have changed them.

Also this car was sold new in California and has never left so it is completely free from rust.

    Here is what it looks like now. 127648248_2845745289028050_6710199014177284472_n.jpg 126315403_706479303636726_6916264421864791088_n.jpg 127092779_2846257755696962_60935827084317454_n.jpg 127095145_771775450348060_140359823550770167_n.jpg 127132300_215528353311223_1080864457570322993_n.jpg 127185188_4131885566840269_6151924061255567434_n.jpg 127212825_821462218634845_4795912892625501622_n.jpg 127225062_433154957842190_8150340705093060796_n.jpg 127789449_748099989390571_1065605153255628902_n.jpg 20201122_063229.jpg

find it strange the initial pics with preFacelift side vents.. and 74 bumpers ..
    but now you have explained..
also, the side markers - Red at front / Amber at rear.. thats a strange choice..
in general, I really like the lighting options on the federal Capris..

Fit & finish is really well done, excellent colour & shine for sure..
but its a no on the stretched tyres from me..

    this your car John?
    Johnny Royale ??

Welcome here. If you lived here, you'd be home by now! (How you get away with parking in the middle of the street like that in L.A.?)

Welcome John, that is one horny looking Capri! Love the backdrops to. Trying to keep my Capri standard(ish) but I do like to see other peoples modified versions.
If I could afford it I would love to have a 2nd Capri to modify :D.

Im not usually a fan of flares or stretched tyres but I think your car really carries these mods very well and as an overall package looks truly great.

@Clockwork Orange - thanks for the link. Yes I build cars and then sell them to release my creativity on another car build. I really enjoy the building process and this Capri has been one of the best. Check out my insta @Zerorust yo see more of my builds

The arches looked mint prior to modifications, horses for courses and I like the car modified.
