    Is it only some Laser's that were fitted with PAS from the factory?

    If so.... am I correct in thinking that they use a 2.8 rack on a unique to Laser engine x/member which is essentially a 2.8 x/member but with 4cyl mounts spot welded on?

    Cheers

    I'm sure someone will shoot me down in flames on this but as far as I'm aware, Ford never offered PAS as an option on 4-cyl Capri's in the UK.

    It's possible there were some dealer conversions but it wasn't a factory order option.

    Yep, you are right, they never fitter PAS on the laser, not even as a dealer fit option. The only cars with PAS were initially the 3 ltr (and even at the beginning that was an option) and the 2.8i. That's it. I don't know if the 2.8i and 3 ltr cross members were the same. I suspect they were, but not having seen two side by side, I can't 100% say, but someone will more than likely know here!

    2.8 and 3.0 PAS crossmembers are the same except later 2.8 ones had the towing loop on the front.

    To be nit-picky, PAS was also offered on the 2.3 litre V6 Capris at least in Sweden. But that was mainly because we really didn't get any 3.0 or 2.8i MkII/III's.

    Thanks for the info..................so I have a several options for PAS available;

    1. Use a 4 cyl X/member, cut the manual rack mounts off and drill and wed in 2 tubes as per 2.8/3.0

    2. Use 2.8/3.0 X/member, cut the V engine mounts off and weld on mounts from a 4 cyl X/member

    3. Corsa or similar elecric motor. don't really want to go this way.

    Just had another thought, has any one tried mk3/4/5 Cortina Pinto engine brackets onto a V engine X/member?
