If you had passed your driving test in 1993 what would of been your first car you had to take you to work.

Not sure about 1993, passed my test in 2008, but my first car was my ford capri, so I think thats a fair trade off! [IMG][IMG]

Passed my test in 94' and my first car was ofcourse a Capri.
    Mine was a 77' 2.0S V6, with Mk3 front, bumper and lights.
It also had 2.8 carb engine from a Granada, 8x13 Slot Mag wheels, satin black paint and hi-jackers in the rear.
It was a rust bucket, but a fun rust bucket.

Those hard 205/60 Cooper tires did it possible to do a 1,2 and third roll out burnout from the lights.
    Lots and lots of smoke.

I also did a standing burnout in all 4 gears, at a parking lot in size of a football field and all of it was covered in smoke.
    Fun times indeed

That was my beginning with the obsession of Capris. My next 4 cars were also Capris.

in 1993, it would probably have been something like my 4th/5th Capri ..
I passed my driving test in 1976 ...
    my first car was a 1100 Mk1 2door Escort - RGD 872G ..
However due to the date I can also tow a great array of trailers ... and have enjoyed myself immensely up to now, using my Capris as tow-cars ...
1/ NGA318M 1600L - used to tow my GXL shell (and all the donated parts) from Monkswood near Usk in Gwent up to Glasgow
2/ Q648PDS 3000GXL - used for transporting various 'Market Buys' up and down the country for small traders - sometimes on a trailer - but usually an A-frame
3/ my Lasers 1&2 - all right for some stuff
4/ Rumbly - Laser V8 - trailers large and small all over .. sometimes for me, sometimes for folks, lots for camping with CCS ..

TBH Mk1s are a far superior tow-car by comparison to the hatch backs .. having that shorter tail overhang (near 6 inch) really makes a difference !

Passed mine in 1966 with a Jag Mk II. The better test story was that I once taught a girlfriend's brother to drive, and took him for his test. During the parking potion, he bumped into the DMV building twice, and still passed. (I'm guessing he probably got out and left a note each time.)

I passed my test in 1993 actually. I started by "loaning" my mothers 1982 Taunus 2.0 (Cortina MkV) but then I bought a 1972 Granada 2.3 Coupé on the autumn. My first Capri was bought the year after, early summer of 1994.

2002... First own car capri 81 2.8i custom, never used it much, only few weekends back then(still have it in a garage, will eventually finish the resto...) bought my xr4i twin turbo same year, and a na tuned xr4i few months into next year when twin turbo engine died... And had a 83 subaru 1800 wagon, to abuse daily... Changed engine in under 15min in that one, from push/drive into garage to New engine in and drove out, since killed allot of them... I was also the first to kill a rear diff in one if those cars

    Passed test in 1979.

    1. Mini Mk1 KLK365D. Fitted with morris 1100 engine and called klik after its reg no and due to cv joints being knackered.

    2. Citroen GS. FOL 152L Very comfortable but very unreliable, drank petrol and leaked oil everywhere. Only had it a month.

    3. My baby. Capri MK2 2.0S 1977 OFB 844R Got from Dad's company for £850. Loved it but eventually crashed it (insurance repaired it) then my dad made me sell it as I hadn't paid him back for it as I'd agreed. Had it 3 years though.

    4. Cortina Mk3 2.0GXL OBL 910L. Evergreen with black vinyl roof. Lovely!

    5. Lancia Beta 1.3 Coupe. HFC 830S. Bright red, cracking twin cam engine and no rust. As with the Capri, I wish I still had it!

    In 1993 I had a Mercedes 190E 2.0 Auto.
