Folks I'm trying to research a Capri for a mate & either on here or Capri Laser forum somebody recently posted a link to flicker or somewhere similar that enabled you to search on the Reg number & it would bring up any photos it found.

Buggered if I can find the link, anyone got it ?

    Thanks mate, much appreciated.

Didn't have time to give the back story to this thread when I posted it so here goes. My mate who did the resto on Biscuit, always keeps an eye out on the trade websites for damaged repairable's, whether to fix up for family members, as donor cars for customer projects or the occasional flip.

He sent me a link to what is supposed to be a 280 for me to look at & review as best I could from around 10 photo's. While its clearly a 2.8, apart from the Brooklands paint job & wheels, there are quite a few things not right, no body mouldings, side repeater indicators, grill, headlamp bezels & door mirrors are all black, not body colour. Drivers door card is a red check etc.

It could be that its a 280 thats had a life & been kept going on a budget, or a 2.8 with aspirations. All in all just trying to see what it really is & then if its worth pursuing. The fact that its on a trade site not EBay, Autotrader & the Market etc would lead me to think its not genuine but .......

Any ideas as to determining its provenance would be appreciated

Pictures aren't clear enough to read the info but I have asked my mate to see if the VIN is in the written info ;)

E357ERK is a 2.8i Special and not a 280, originally a blue car that was repainted green in 1991 according to DVLA records anyway.

    Hope this helps?

That’s the bugger, my mate only sent the photos.

like all classics, so long as you know what your buying you take the mods / condition & place your bid accordingly. Think it was at £500 or so yesterday
Thanks for your info Stevo, I have advised him accordingly

its in Coparts - Scrap recovery?) - https://www.copart.co.uk/lot/35627071/clean-title-1987-ford-capri-inje-sandwich
appears to have Laser door cards, looks like early injection rear cards, may be a copy rear shelf.. no repeater indicators( required after April 1986)
so is it a rough rebuild on a late 86 shell.. or a ringered early shell dressed to kill ??
needs a good look at.. repeater indicators have inner wing details easily spotted !!

Coparts, not the most honest salvage auction people on the planet, a successful business, yes.
A person l know recently parted with £7000.00 for an engine, tried and tested, got it delivered to his unit, siezed solid, Coparts response, it was good when it was removed, that's it, no comebacks, no refund, zilch, one slightly pi**ed off customer, that will never purchase from them again.
I'm sure there are plenty of people that have had good deals, but as they say word of mouth advertising is the best.

Following the copart link ...... 1972 FORD CAPRI 3000 for sale at Copart UK - Salvage Car Auctions

The pictures on there seem to bear out your info & what my mate has been able to search too. Seems to be genuine at face value, no idea of any further history but as always with such sales, if my mate pursues an interest he will give it a thorough view on site before hand.

It seems to tick all the boxes about being a genuine car, caveat emptor & all that ;)
