As a few of you know, we have a rather large project on the go in Nova Scotia... The Mk1 Special is for sale and we are open to offers. I'm listing all my panels tonight. Also my bike is going to have to go... See non Capri classifieds later this week. Once all this is gone (if it all goes) I think I may have to go for the biggie and sell my most prized possession... the Laser... I'm hoping to keep hold of it, but it may have to go. Col
Thanks Alan... it'll be heart breaking to see the ZXR and the Laser go, but the dream of Nova Scotia is getting closer step by step and that is where I have found my true home.
ooh, how classy would the Laser look parked by that place? Looks really good.. You could start a whole new trend Col...
Thats a beautiful project Col, wishing you and Julie the very best with it. Would be great to see some more pics.
It'll take us a couple of years to get out there I would think. It's in the town where my Grandfather grew up on the South shore.. The town: Viewed from the North, the house is high up in the wooded bit to the left, overlooking the adjacent island and out to the North Atlantic... View from the balcony out to the North Atlantic.
my Lord Colin.. that is some house, and location .. beats the c**p out of what we have just done with the Caravan in Scotland.. that aerial view of the island makes it look quite serene, have you jobs organised, or is this a retiral.. Is it just the pair of you moving out or is this going to be an extended (Waltons type) Family thing.. All I can say is.. Best Wishes & well done..
oh my days, now who wouldnt want to live there, amazing looking place , best of luck with your move, and i hope it all goes smooth for you Colin
Nice project, something to keep you busy and make life comfortable. I don't see any other Capris in town, so to keep one would be a treat.
This was February when we got the place... First night with proper furniture... I was enjoying a nice cold beer from the local craft brewery. More views from the balcony
Nova Scotia has lots of craft breweries... The nearest is Boxing Rock in Shelburne. I could take the Capri, just not sure I really want to as it'll not get up to the house due to the driveway being too steep at the junction with the road...
I think the time is approaching for the Laser to leave me... I know what I would want for it, and what it is insured for, but what do peeps think about the value of a modded Laser. She's been with me since June 1994 and has had everything she needs and more.
Shipping overseas not worth it?? Maybe a lockup somewhere closeby if it wont get up the road? I would hate to see it leave your possesion after the time and effort put into it, been following the work on it since the old, old, old forum in the mid 2000s! It gave me many hours of debate with myself over whether to fit a bodykit on mine as yours looked so good If you have to sell, its a tricky one to value, afterall it is 'just' a laser, but at the same time, its got a lot of little extras and is finished very well. I honestly can't even give a rough idea of price, some here will probably say £5k.....id be thinking you're looking much closer to your insured value I wouldnt be going below 5 figures... The main thing is finding the right buyer!
Well... I think the decision is almost made that the Laser may be available around August / September... Gauging opinion as to what I would want for her... currently thinking £13000 as she sits... £14000 with all my spares, which includes a used rust free genuine bonnet, pair of new pattern wings, used pair of doors, used tailgate, pair used genuine bumpers, spare Megajolt V3 Ecu, spare standard 2 litre head, 205 block pinto short motor and lots of other bits and bobs... She's not perfect, but is a very clean, straight genuine car that has been cherished by me since 1994 Depending on market conditions and watching cars sell through Mathewsons where a 2.0S that needed work sold for £8250 today (20th March 2021), the asking price at the time of sale may change... It's currently less than its insured value...
OK, so things are changing... It now looks like she has to go... Watch the for sale pages as once I get the heater matrix back in and the interior fettled, I thinks it's time she went to a new home. Very hard decision, but that's the way it has to be...
real shame to to hear she has to go but the best of luck with the sale and i really hope she goes to someone that will care for her the way you have
that's a real shame, lovely laser , if my numbers come up tomorrow i'll give you a shout good luck with the sale
