The 1.6S Resto, 1 of 6 left, must be back to the road for the S club day at Hendon meet

About a year ago I bought the S for £450 with the intentions of having her as my first car, I have had to delay working on her due to not having any funds and not wanting to make a start incase she was left unfinished

The following Pics were taken by the previous owner, I will be posting some better ones when I get her out of the lockup, Enjoy- ;)

Its funny you should mention the wing, cos its been damaged along the wheel arch on mine,(I think mine has still got the original wing though) its also got a few dents on the bonnet and drivers wing from where it was in a council lockup and some kids fell through the aspestos roof on to it <_< - so the previous owner was telling me...

If you have got any pics that would be great ;)

If that rad panel is anything to go by this car will be really smart when it's finished - nice rare model too which is a major plus when going to all the trouble and expense.

    Nice project this one. :thumbup1:

Cheers Si, with the door handles I just sanded the rough bits off with a sanding pad, then applied a few coats of primer, then a couple of coats of matt black and 2 final coats of Laquer- all with the rattle cans too ;) I was pleasantly pleased with the results :D

Off to the bodyshop today, abit of a sad day :sleepy: , but it had to be done-

Pics after her last clean with the original paintwork, just thinking of all that originality...-

I am gonna miss them original S decals...

Replacement doors- should look good once respayed ;) , quite hard to find a pair of early type Mk3 doors with no holes for rubbing strips, not much rust and at a decent price... Also a pair of A Pillars supplied by Martin at CapriGear, Cheers Martin :thumbup1:

A trip to the bodyshop- about 50miles from me, abit of surface rust and a hole under where the spoiler sits, will be sorted soon though...-

Can anyone recognise them wheels shes wearing? Theyre from another resto on here...

A very sad moment, leaving her behind, but then again shes in good hands ;)

I will be seeing her in 3 weeks time now if all goes to plan, theres still plently to be getting my hands dirty with whilst shes some 50miles though, Cheers for Looking :thumbup1: Charlie

Thanks for the positive words chaps, really gr8 to get some good feedback, Thanks all the same. Well iv now seen her resprayed in the flesh, really chuffed to bits with how shes come out, to get this respray and weld up my life since the new year has been full on dedication trying to save the extra quids here n there on just about everything to afford this, I was very tempted to go down the route of DIY but then i couldn't bring myself to it knowing of her rareness, besides i would have never been satisfied with the result and imo id say personally its best left to the pofessionals unless your quite confident with bodywork, shes now had every dink, scratch and spot of rust removed, hand primed and flatted, door gaps near perfect, all rust basically eleiminated, and a 1 very satisfied owner now  . Shes going to be coming home on Tuesday evening so if your around Bury St Edmunds or Haverhill at that time keep your eyes peeled ;) not many pics for the moment but there will be more to follow when she arrives back at home :D Enjoy-

Fantastic, magnificent, splendid ... I love those wheels although not so for many on here:boxedin:. One thing I would do is remove that red paint from the inside of the right door.
I can't wait to see it done. So glad for you Charlie:D
