Anyone on here going to the Capri show at Speyer next year.
We have just booked our hotel.
thinking of doing this, when is it?
21st to 23rd June 2019..
I'd love to, I've just got to make sure the car is reliable, and then pursuade the Mrs that its a nice holiday
We went last year, it was an amazing trip and well worth the long journey. The Ibis hotel is about 200 yards from the museum where the meet is and its a huge place. We spent literally all day looking round the museum at old cars, planes which you can walk into, spacecraft the list is endless. Plenty of shops and restuarants in the town itself to enjoy too.
Plan your ferry or train over, enjoy the drive and have a smashing weekend
We are booked into the Ibis hotel..was parking ok ??
We are leaving Rochester Thursday evening booked on le shuttle gentle drive there..booked an open return so traveling back Sunday afternoon to get the train early hours Monday morning.
Any more tips/hints appreciated.
Hi Steve. Parking at the hotel was fine theres was loads of Capris there. And theres a barrier on the exit so you need a token from reception to get out, fairly secure. Allow yourself plenty of time for a steady drive down there, the roads are fine but if I remember a bit of traffic through Belgium near the cities. Plus you'll need to stop for food, fuel etc.
The one pub we went to for food on the bank of the Rhine was fab, English speaking waitress and accomodated about 15 of us with no notice. To be fair all the locals seemed really friendly and helpful.
If the weather is good you'll have a fab time. When my wifi is playing nicely again I'll put some photos up off the laptop to wet your appetite lolol
Yeah we’re going next year same as you booked ibis but I’m doing a bit of a road trip through Europe probably about 10 days or so and somehow ending up in speyer
Not sure if the annual mileage of 3000 will do much good next year for the old Brookie
best update the insurance, fair play for driving it though, that,s what they are for, hope to see you there, just have to talk the missus into it
Fantastic trip last year! highly recommend it, my first time driving abroad, we convoyed down with the southern gang, and then after Speyer we gingerly set off on our own and toured to Bavaria and made our own way back across Germany and France, needn't have worried, 2000 faultless miles in 5 days in my daily driver 1.6 laser , i will definitely like to do it again in 2019! a few pics to give you an idea

Great photos Chris...
Really looking forward to this trip now..
just have to talk the missus into it
Just tell her you've booked a romantic weekend away...
Thinking about going on this trip next year where’s the best place to stop on the way down ?
Some stopped over at Folkestone ready for the tunnel in the morning, did consider doing the tunnel first and staying in France, but no in the end I did Luton to Speyer in the day! must have been nearly 600miles and 12hours on the road, set off at 3am got the 6.30am tunnel crossing, stopped off at the Nurburgring in the afteernoon and ended in Speyer early evening, and I was somehow fresh for the next day
That's exactly what I did too on that trip. Left mine around 3:30am as I had pulled an allnighter anyway , got down to Folkestone for the tunnel with Chris, Sophie & the others leaving at 6ish (there was slight confusion which train we were leaving on but all sorted). Drove all the way to Speyer that day, stopping off at services, a German McDonalds, also Nürburgring, then to Speyer. A few hours sleep & woke up all good ready for the show. Good times with good people man, good times.
That's our intention to catch an early train Friday morning then just a steady drive down...
I would like to do Speyer again this year, but take the 2.0S this time
That does mean i need to get the 2.0S on the road again.
Heres a quick video of Speyer 2017
Yes mate... Do it.. You know it makes sense ..
The norweigans will be there this year as well.
We are leaving norway Thursday morning, and we will arrive Friday evening.
10 cars and 18 members, a few of them will take a plane down there.
To house all of our members under one roof, and due cost we are staying in a hotel in the next town.
Say hello if you see me
