As you may have seen on Facebook I spent my Covid summer writing another book – Secret Fords. I'll be honest I'd planned to leave the Capri out of it as I'd just written two books and had nothing left to write. But no, I was wrong. Ford gave me access to the Ghia archives and I discovered five of their Capris that were never seen at the main Ford studios. One was a real head-spinner, this Sierra-derived Capri that is sure to attract lovers and haters.

What might be of interest here is I received about 7-8 photos of the Capri Laser prototypes – one, badged as 2.8 Laser was an Injection and the other, a silver car shows the interior with Escort seats, Injection trim and Strobe S rear seats, a real mix. But so everyone's clear that's only in the Collector's Edition – just so nobody gets the wrong version!

More on the book here - last time I'll write on Capri chaps, I promise.

    - Capri II '78 series V8 -
200SX was a nice motor.. and superb by Datsun standards in a world here that still didnt rate Japanese cars ...

Ford really lost the plot after 1978 with the Capri, and even that was shoddy works compared to Diana ..
Capri II was the last defined effort by Ford as far as our hobby and wishes go..
SO .. even now I will never have a Ford badge on my Capri .. they stopped supporting the model and their owners after 1986.. I will never support their name on my Capri

No, it was always a limited 1,000 unit run. But there are 3-4 copies left in the US at the Capri Specialist, Team Blitz. https://www.teamblitz.com
