Guys. Black xpack Capri Nissan engine fitted et check the projects page. Stolen within 3 weeks from my locked garage in back garden with a gated alley running behind it. Not insured so I'm fooked and upset and angry. Look out for it.

If someone can post on face book that would be great.

That's nasty news to wake up to, as bad as watching your Capri burn up. The nastiest part is I'd first suspect someone who lives close, like a neighbour, to have been involved.
Hidden cameras, alarms & such come to mind. I hope the other local Capri owners will take this up as a group challenge, and pursue all the possibilities toward getting it back.

I'm gutted for you mate, totally gutted. Low life scum are everywhere unfortunately.
I really hope you get it back, a mate of mine had his mk1 escort nicked and got it back after the scum bags broke the flywheel bolts and abandoned it in a hedge.
    Gutted

But sometimes we have to do more than we can. The first logical step was to post it here. The next logical step is for Capri Power to stand up and show its place in the world, and its members to be members..This car is unique enough to stand out in a crowd. It belongs home. No reason we can't make that happen. Please, let's do that.

Gutted for you mate, just spent this afternoon getting mine insured again as being unwell I had let the insurance lapse on them this year, again thinking they are safe in a secure unit.
I hope someone has cctv locally to help you get some info on it, might be worth walking around a few roads that leads away from your property and look for camera's and knock on a few doors?

Got footage off door bells of it. Stolen yesterday 09:48am in broad say light (albeit in an alley way).

houses opposite the alley entrance show it leave alley and turn left out of our road. Can't see front of van for Reg.

camera dead opposite the road turning facing the van has a ring door bell too but unable to get footage of it

Ive been out looking for the past couple of hours as its been spotted in between thetford and Ash hill, which is a huge area to cover, but found nothing but a hidden burnt out Saab had Gail with me so double the eyes looking if the location could be narrowed down at all it would be a huge help

I note it's on FB. Can see the van towing it and the van number plate. Is the van reg not clear on that CCTV or is that the ring doorbell you're saying is unclear?

There is an update, witness now says it was actually seen on the m25 roundabout in the dartford lane heading out of aveley village so I got the feeling it actually went south and not north to Norfolk. However I'm now not sure what information to believe it accurate without a photo. Will of course follow all leads though. I know there are a few Capri people in the sound so I might speak to the likes of tickover to make them aware incase anyone goes their way with it.

Are we talking "seen" as in the car under wraps on the trailer?

If the Capri under its own steam then it would show on your Dart Charge account maybe or you'd be seeing a fine. At least you could pinpoint a time and date.

Us here in the South will keep a lookout of course. Plenty of scum this way.

I'd take a drive out if I wasn't self isolating.

Is it worth talking nicely to the crossing people and asking if they would mind viewing bridge footage for say 20 minutes after it was nicked? I'll email them now and ask the question.

Seen as in as it was being towed away. Didn't use a trailer, used an a frame/sturdy bar.

and yea if I can work out who to call to ask that's my next point of call.

    Mr Gentry
If it was on 25 the police would have seen it as that area of the 25 is loaded with cameras, have you passed this information that your getting to the police, as any info is better than none

Really do need to uncover the reg of the van.. That would help immensely ..
also it will have been an A-frame, the Capri windows all covered in the pics so a hard bar could not be used, the driver wouldnt be able to see ..

I've always been a big advocate of a passport control at the Kent / Essex border. Them & us etc, didn't want them coming over with their flash ways and full sets of teeth, depleting our gene pool.

Then the other week I found out my father's family were from Latchingdon!!!

I never thought I'd have to admit to having some Essex Boy in me!

The police sent me a letter saying there is insufficient evidence and they have closed the case as of 13/09/21.

the vehicle reg that took the van is HT15 CYW white Renault Trafic. Could be a copied plate. Comes up as mot'd. Any more help would be great

    what!
how is there insufficient evidence !!
you have a movie-clip with the van going in, then out with your car on tow behind it. and you now have a registration??
2&2 surely, at least do a follow up check to rule it out !!

that van is fully taxed & MoT'd, the MoT history is a bit ropey, and very low mileage for a commercial vehicle

registration prefix HT - PORTSMOUTH is original place of first registration .. OK they travel, but 7 years and only low mileage suggests it hasnt travelled much ..

I would put a written request to them as to whether they have traced / interviewed/ ruled out the registered keeper.

If not take it up with the new incarnation of what was the Police Complaints Commission. Essex Police I hear are are bit notorious for being f***ing useless in things like this. I read somewhere that at one time they were basically uncontactable!

If you steal a police car, how long does the case stay open?

    Be sure and ask!

Ok so I may have jumped the gun, or they use just not efficient enough.

I called them in a huff ready for an argument. They said although it's down as case closed it just means there isn't enough lead for them to continue with. They will still look into it if I have more of a lead for them.

case was closed 13/09/21, evidence sent via online form 14/09/21.

They are just painfully slow I think. They said me emailing a registration isn't enough, it needs to be a video with the registration in it. So I've been and got a video of the video evidence and emailed them that tonight. If that's still not enough, god knows.

Don't give up, I'm afraid as with most organisations YOU have to do the chasing ;)

I'm sure if it was the Prime Minister's car that had been stolen, there would be unlimited resources being thrown into the pot to find it!!!.

Insurance data base, should show who has insured the vehicle, because if the registered keeper details are incorrect, the police then use the MID, you have unfortunately got to wipe there arses for them and then it's data protection bullshit.

Nothings changed, about 30 years ago I was awoken by my capri alarm going off about 2AM, when I went out I found it had been a hit and run, I found a corner bumper from a mk4 cortina, and blue paint all down the side of my car, my mate, who was a binman at the time, found a blue cortina in a drive with a smashed front end, which happened to belong to my then girlfriends ex, case solved, but the police wouldn't even look into it, lack of evidence, still winds me up even now, only good outcome came about 2 years ago, when the culprit got ran over by someone he owed money too and got 2 broken legs, I did snigger when I found that out,

No. Police have had the registration for a few days but don't think they have dont anything with it yet. If anyone else can get me the bone address from the reg I'm ready to investigate myself.

Been searching for parts every day since. Nothing on mine listed yet.

Is it better that I list the parts and their distinctive features? Or safer not to as this will tell the thieves what to change when selling

I would tend to search silently..
The less they know what you know the better..
The fact they get to know there’s a hunt on may just be enough to make them abandon..

I had a lad break into my1600E, he stole the dashboard and cappings, a few weeks later they turned up for sale, l had swopped out certain bits that made them 100% my property, let's just say he fell over and broke several ribs.

Did you look into that link I gave you where you can pay for the premium car check and get all the registered keepers details?

Tbh, reading further then maybe you can't get the keepers details via that route because of data protection. Worth a call maybe as you have "good reason" and can back it up with a crime number etc.

I note there were some manufacturer's, recall items on that van when I looked at the MOT status that still haven't been done if I'm reading it right. It may well follow then that the van owners etc are not your usual law abiding citizen.

Cash reward for anyone who tells me where the car is. Cash paid after my hand touches my car, not before.

If your getting nowhere with the cops, given they have plenty to go on it seems, would the services of a PI be a way forward ?

Just a thought, really hope you get it back unmolested ;)

unless you are on a really good term with a member of our police force who could get it for you on the hush hush side of it, i really dont know what else to suggest, is there any up date on sightings at all, as you know my wife and i did do a drive out looking when you said about the spot but as said before thats a huge area and lots of country lanes farms. and static gypsy sites lots of banger boys here as well, some of whome i know as im an ex racer, and have dropped a word in to let me know if they here of anything, my son runs a modified car club and the members have been informed and are keeping eyes and ears open as it runs a ricer engine it could well be offered to the modified scene

I really thought you was going to be lucky and get this back in the first week, with it being quite a unique car and well spread about on social media I though someone would have seen it.

It's been over a month now. The police haven't even had the decency to call me back with an update... I'm suprised too, I keep looking for parts being sold online etc as there is very little in the way of parts that wouldn't stand out to me due to how much of it is modified.

I don't really get what they intended to do by stealing it, as like previously said by many, selling the parts will prove difficult too.

There’s always the possibility that the barstards will lay low for a while until most of the commotion has died down before doing what they need to do.

Yeah that's what I think now, as when it was spotted in a layby I thought they had just dumped it being too hot and too unique.
Fingers crossed something will turn up.

    UPDATE!!!

has a call on Sunday from the kind policeman who is dealing with my traumatic incident. He kindly apologised for not getting in touch sooner (it's been over a month) and said he was off with covid (when I called before I was told he was on holiday). I politely told him his supervisor was due to call me in his absence but notified him this was over a month ago also. No comment in return regarding that. I enquired Into if anyone had been dealing with the issue while he was off with sunny covid but he said he didn't know.

he did say he is back at it now. He said he can't promise he will call me in a couple of days, as he has to do call outs and responses etc during the day too and if god forbid anyone was to be murdered that would keep him busy for a week or so.

hopefully I'll hear from them again soon.
