    Hi all

Has anyone had any experience of Topboss Performance? Emailed them for a quote for some work. Basically I'm going to shoehorn a Cosworth BOB engine into my 2.8i and I need it all wired in and mapped with a standalone ECU. I will do the nuts and bolts but will need the electrics doing. They quoted £2200 for the loom (plus installation) ECU and map.

Any other recommendations for the above work?

    Cheers

If you search on here you will find some past threads that are less than complimentary about this company.

I did the same but used an Emerald K6. Near Norwich so not a million miles from you.

Thanks mate. I did do a search but couldn't find anything. Do you mean you DIY'd it?

I have got bits and pieces off them regularly over the build and they have always been decent with me. However as Joe says there are plenty of contradictions out there about the actual work they have done. Do your homework before spending that sort of money :)

You can buy the K6, wiring and sensors to make up your own loom which is what I did or, Emerald can do it for you - at a price.

The wiring loom, especially on the engine is important to get right if you want to avoid running problems later on. The K6 does away with some of the original sensors including the MAF so far less to go wrong. It also corrects the midrange lean spot caused by removal of the EGR.

Don't be fooled into thinking a Cossie conversion can be done cheaply, it can't if you want it to produce good results and be reliable. I reckon Ford missed a trick by not fitting this engine into the Capri as they are made for each other. Shame they weren't around at the same time.

Yeah, I definitely want it done properly and I know that I don't have the skill when it comes to electrics to get it to the standard it deserves. I can do nuts and bolts but am really at a loss when it comes to the loom and ECU.

Are there any other reputable companies that would offer the same service?

Thanks again for the replies. Much appreciated.

There's a guy on Ford Power who makes up looms for retrofit engines, can't recall his name though.

You could also have a chat with some of the traders on here Capri Gear, Steads, Tickover etc who have carried out similar work and may be able to help you.
