Where to buy sheet metal for repairs?

    As per title. I'm going to start the welding repairs after Brooklands but not sure of best place to buy sheet materials.

    look for steel stockholders in your area ..
    look at the steel and gauge you require.. talk to them on the phone, or go visit, explaining what your task is ..
    that way you will get what is needed ..
    internet trolling is not accurate enough

    Ebay, you can get big sheets of 1.7mm which is capri panel thickness for dirt cheap delivered

    Also ask them if they have off cuts rather than full sheets in the thickness's you need, so long as you know what sizes you need, buying off cuts of an approprican be much cheaper than full sheets, & more easily transported by you ;)

    Ive not heard of approprican is that the car body steel some places use that has a thin zinc coating to stop it rusting in storage but that needs to be ground back when welding ?

    I thought capri panels were 1.2mm max? Think I used 1mm and that seemed right and welded nicely.

    Cheers folks, turns out I have a sheet metal fabricators half a mile from my door, so I'll go have a natter with them, see if they have any 1mm scrap knocking about
