My wife wants rid of the Capris and all the parts so we can turn the garage into "something for the kids" i.e. playroom now then "somewhere they can have their friends round when they're older" :cursing:

She doesn't like it, she thinks it's too low when you pass lorries, it's noisy (XJ6 daily so it would be) , too mamy people look at you when you're out and finally when you're at the supermarket etc etc total strangers come and talk to you!!
In particular, she hates it when they talk to her if I'm not back and she's sitting in it!!!!!

BUT......We've had it 12 years and it's part of the family so I'm not allowed to sell it???

    Who will ever understand them?

after many many years of solo travel, all over Europe, and GB, with only a road map as a seat cover,
I was a little nervous about getting together on our first travels together on an event..
NO worries, my Lass is the perfect travelling partner, and just loved our adventures in Rumbly
thats 18 months with him in the shop now...
I think Navigator is having worse withdrawal symptoms than me...
So lucky to have her as my travelling partner

my ex used to live on a posh housing estate and they had a petition to get me off the estate by midnight cos of the straight through pipe,if i was after that i used to roll it down the hill then fire it up! My misses has driven mine and she says 'It won't stop and it won't go round corners!' My answer is 'People in the 1970s didn't go round corners or stop quickly!'
She also says it smells of fumes! I think secretly she likes it! :thumbup1:

get some buckets and sponges in yer garage mate - get the kids to clean the car -- do them the world of good - fresh air and exercise. Wont need a youth community "come and eat all my food and drink my coke and stay here coz your own parents wont let you do it in their home" room then.

I'm lucky, mine likes the Capri (she calls it Carlos FFS) and likes to come along to meets and when I take it for a drive at weekends. She never moans about me saving/spending money on it and is happy for me to tinker with it as she knows it's a release from all the day to day stuff. I've had Capri's in my life for 30 years now and she enjoys sharing my interest in them.

The only thing she moans about is when she sends me down to the garage for a bottle of wine and I'm "sidetracked" for and hour and a half. She's rigged up a remote doorbell so when my time is up she presses the button in the kitchen and it rings in the garage. I always respond as it usually means food/drink/tea is ready.

Trouble is, now when I hear a "ding Dong" doorbell chime, I associate it with food and drink...........

Only grief I get is during the winter when the Capri is hibernating in the garage and her MX5 is buried in snow, not too bad :smokin:

I had Capris before I met her so Im not changing :snack:

I think mine likes the capri, it's cabin is warm-ish and comfy and the radio works, thats her stringent car criteria met there! and she certainly seems to like pushing it out of trouble in the snow anyway, so I'd say I'm doing well [IMG]

My Fiancee calls the Capri 'our' car. If she does that again I may very well leave her! she loves the old girl.

and on the money side of things, shes a little jealous, but I spend my money, no one elses!

    1972 Capri 2000 OHC
She loves it, she argues in favor of the Capri when blokes flirt with her (jerks!) and talk about their cars, thinks its very unique and thinks its better than most cars out there... She likes when I spend time with it, PROVIDING that means i'm not out drinking with me mates..

But, once the car starts receiving more affection, money, and time than she gets, all of a sudden, it's rusty, loud, rattly, a waste of money, the pits, and "I'd rather walk".

Get this: 2 weeks ago I found a '74 2.8 for sale, and she drooled all over it (till I told her we couldn't afford it). How's that for a change of pace? I had to convince her not to go for it.. Do.. Do i need to get my head checked?

Mine hates it with a passion!
I persuaded her to let me take it to work one evening. On the journey home after a 13 hour shift in mid winter she wasn't impressed!I had to de ice the inside of the car windscreen in front of her friends at work, we both froze on the way home with a lack of heater and then we broke down on the motorway due to a faulty fuel gauge and subsequently no petrol. A freezing 30 minute wait on the hard shoulder outside of the car and then an embarrassing drop off by the AA in front of our new neighbour's!
Explaining about the cars character fell on deaf ears.

Mine gives me lectures all the time about how it is 'too white' :tongue (2):

Other than that, she doesn't mind it, she doesn't mind the attention it gets, she prefer's not to come to shows unless she has a stack of books or there is something else to do. :nono:

It use to always make me laugh when the girls from college who had a lift in it, could never understand why lots of people on the road were looking at the car!

My other half was getting on my tits for what felt like 24/7 about the car, so yes, I caved in and got rid - of the car:(

edited to add : at least I have the Simply Capri mag though (hopefully I won't have to resort to hiding them when they come in)
