Can anyone tell me from what year the bulkhead (back of the engine below the scuttle) was stamped with the chassis number? My 86 model has it, but I've looked at an 84 model today and it doesn't have anything.

    Thanks.

An 86 model should have the chassis number stamped in the floor at the side of the drivers seat, never seen the chassis number stamped on the bulkhead on any capri.

Yeah, my 86 has me confused as I thought it was normal. It does have it on the floor too plus the VIN plate. Just checking, so thanks for the very quick reply. :thumbup1:

Looks like I now own 1 road going Cappa, 1 project Cappa , and 1 spares Cappa...

Plus a Cortina, XR4i, X-Trail, 2 motorbikes, a caravan, and a trailer tent! Going to have to cut down. 1x spares 2.8i Special being broken soon and 1x motorbike to go I think...

Oh, and I think I've been round to your gaff a few times for parts over the years - last time a Sierra dash.

Yes you did get the dash from me.

As clockwork said, put a photo up if you can so we can see what it looks like.

Will do peeps, but you'll have to give me a few days to get to the car - it's behind 2 motorbikes and a lot of other parts at the moment as I only do work on it sporadically.

Bringing this thread up-to-date with a rather embarassing apology...

I've been into the garage today and got to the engine bay. Turns out my memory failed me - it wasn't a chassis stamp it was a sticker! :duh: It's been that long since I've worked on a Capri (normally Cortina's and my XR4i) my mind was playing tricks.

    Sorry peeps.
