Can anyone shed some light on whether the Capri Mk 1 had a Bonnet Ornament which sat on the windscreen end of the bonnet Bulge. There have been a couple sold on EBay but I am having trouble finding any information on this option.

Is it the mazak piece you are talking about fitted to the very early mk1s?

only for about the first 9 months of production from 12/68-08/70 .. finis code 1414569 / part number 3047E-12872 A
it also required a unique hood to cater for it - Parts book secn A3.20 (part 48 refers)

There’s a chappie George Done, in the Capri mk1 owners Club, is just completing a full rebuild of a Crayford. You can see in his pictures that he has sourced and used a hood with the ornament attached..

in all honesty it is nice but understandable why it was deleted from production so early!!
The bonnet pressing and tooling costs saved will have been enormous over the production run!

So what were they for exactly - was it just a finishing trim?

they were just really a bit of flash.. an ornament was all...
I think I have seen one that had been chromed, I believe as standard they were usually colour-coded ..
