Did the Mk3 3 litre Essex come standard with power steering or was this just on the 2.8's? I assume the lower spec Capri's didn't have power steering, for example the 1.3's? If it didn't come with P/S, was the steering heavy? Thanks, Kez
All later mk2 and all MK3 3 litres came with power steering. The MK1 and early MK2 were manual steering. All 1.3/1.6/2.0 were manual steering
It was standard on the 3.0 S & 3.0 Ghia but..... it was available as an option NOT to be fitted, not sure why you would want this tough. Similarly, you could have a 3.0 Ghia that was manual http://www.capripower.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/1390-mk3-1981/
my Dads 1978 3ltr Ghia was ordered by the dealer with three factory options .. 1/ Black Gloss finish 2/ Power Steering delete 3/ Manual transmission .. RIP EDS333T
My 78 3.0 Ghia didn't have power steering and as mentioned it was a no cost option to have it removed. I found it quite heavy when parking.
