Photo from spray painters, rubbed down, rust treated and primed, nearly ready for paint, suspension and crossmember coming out today, new rack going on at weekend along with poly bushes, once the crossmember is cleaned and painted
She's coming home Sunday , looking forward to bolting some shiny new bits on haha , I know some people don't like black bonnets, but the thing is you see, I love em, lol
so nice - looking good & personal all in one set of shots.. Now the build up.. and miles, miles and enjoyment .. super
Looks very impressive, always liked a gold car after my ownership of a gold 1600E, that somehow thought it was the General Lee.
I personally prefer the black bonnet and tops of wings look. That's a good looking car, but then I'm going for the same look so I'm biased!
Not much of an update, but rubbed down and painted anti roll bar, painted new steering rack, (thanks again nick) and got some new tca s which I've fitted superflex bushes, haven't had time to do much else, lot of personal traumas going on at home last week or so, hopefully things are on the way up, and get a bit more done soon,
Thanks rog, crossmembers getting blasted next week, can't be putting dirty items into a shiny new bay, haha
fully agree with that statement Steve, my engine is manky but then it was a rush job two engine out one engine in 3 hours
I'll be shocked if I don't damage it putting the engine in, dont think ill use the old method of 2 people standing on the wing tops while lowering the engine with a scaffy bar and rope
Unbolt the cross member and lift the car over the engine and box if you have the use of a 2 post lift, otherwise it's liberal use of duvets.
CO mentioned that very method, I'd never heard of it until then, haven't got a lift, but a couple of mates may be able to lift the front end up over the engine,
Yup! assemble the engine & gearbox on the cross member, lift the tub right over and then 4 bolts its in.. lift a little, rear mount.. Then ARB & TCAs.. the rest is in the delightful detail..
Not much to report, new alternator fitted, radiator painted and fitted, radiator panel fitted, tomorrow hopefully get the prop back in, and exhaust system fitted,
There's a "forum bug & error" -- You click "like", and all it says is "like", with no option to say "like a lot" - which you would, if you found that in your garage. Am I right?
im loving that rad panel looks great may pinch that idea off you myself, dont forget to lube that cam before boxing it up, this is really taking shape and top marks on your build, great thread keep the up dates coming
Thanks rog, it means a lot, getting positive comments, got the exhaust manifold painted today, and I've got 5 days off from Wednesday, so hopefully get cracked on with it
Thanks Al, like I said, sharing pics, and reading comments, sometimes gives you a boost to keep cracking on with it,
tis true Steve... I am keeping my dreams alive by reading guys progress here and on the various fb pages.. one day I will get there ..
im off thursday till monday but think i will be working on my wifes jap crap, as for my old Penny she is now off the road for a little so i can get some bits done like a new wind screen
Thanks John, means a lot, the one thing I wish I'd learnt when I was younger, is welding and bodywork, im truly amazed by some of the builds on here, and especially the fabrication and paintwork, some shells that most people would scrap, ending up better than when they left the factory, inspiring stuff
Not much today, exhaust on, prop fitted, clutch cable fitted, would have got a bit more done, but I had HELP,
Lol, she's fixated on the leaf! She's obsessed, couldn't find the clamps, ill have another look tomorrow,
i had a dog that use to try and catch birds, and use to run and jump up to catch them, the only problem was the birds were flying above the tree tops, he would do it for hours if we left him
