also note that the plastic ends are different to match the bars

    upload_2021-6-10_17-26-3.png

so decision time .. the 2 odd bars, 1 is at the front, 1 at the rear .. so where is the roof widest, how long are the bars !!

Of the ones I've removed, I've never noticed colour on them. Looked at my spares, none there either.

    Well, now I am confused.

I had a little play around with them today and couldn't really get a good match, no matter what way I put them.

They were in the boot of the car when I bought it, might be that they are from a different car.

Does anywhere sell reproduction rods ?

have you got all the plastic end stops for them??
they wont fit properly without, and as far as I recall, there is a block of sound deadening foam sticks to the roof directly above with a grove in that the road will sit to save it revolving out..
you fit the roof-lining one bar at a time, clicking in then rotating the bar up into place.. one after the other, when the lining is then locked and tensioned at the screen apertures before being trapped by the screen rubbers..

I did my Mk1 way back mid 80s, but it was a sunroof model and only had the 2x rear bars..

Only person I can think of that may be help would be Martin Pawson @ Capri Gear.. If he hasnt got them he will have knowledge I am sure

Clockwork Orange, you are a fount of knowledge, thank you for your advice.

I do have most of the plastics end stops, I'm just missing 1.

I'm not in a big rush to get the headliner in, but I'm glad I asked early now.

They could be Tina and bought in then found not to fit, the reason im going this route with this is because the MK1 Capri was built on the floor pan of the Tina, just a thought

Mk1 Capri floor is not cortina, it’s only very slightly different to Capri II.. you could even fit them and most folk wouldn’t know the difference (seat runner mounts)

    Hi all.
I haven't posted here for ages! I just saw this thread and had a look because I have just ordered a new headlining for my 69 Mk1.

The original 52 year old headlining has almost completely disintegrated however I was able to match it with some remnant pieces still glued to the inner roof of the car and confirm the positions of the steel rods.

    20210612_184803.jpg

From front to rear the colours are

    Blue
    Green
    Green
    Yellow

This is a non sunroof car.

To help you check if the rods you have are actually from a Mk1 Capri, I measured the overall length of each rod.

    blue 1100mm
    green 1097mm
    green 1097mm
    yellow 1171mm

The below pic shows front at the top and all rods aligned so it shows the comparable lengths.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Steve.
