It would be really interesting if it was 4 speed that would be the A4LD that went into the 85 0n Granada Scorpio and Sierras.

There was one '74 (MkI facelift) I've seen here with a 2.8 and autobox. Would that be more common? (I've never driven any Capri with an auto.)

Nice one, my mate had a Mkll 3.0S Auto, if such a thing exits, he drove it like a granny, until I showed him to use the stick like a manual, then he liked it.
Mr Ford had one built, have seen a few advertised before, but as to whether they were factory, who knows, I like autos, but on my to do list for my 2.8i Ghia X estate, is to 5 speed manual it, have the pedal box and gearbox, had a 1981 W plate 2.8i Ghia estate with a 4 speed and that went like it was a getaway car for a bank job, oh it was!!!

I could add that my Kismet was originally an auto, but I'm converting it. But that's an early MkII.

Not so long ago there was a 2.8i special Auto for sale that was built by the factory for a Ford executive (probably American ...), anyway that particular vehicle had the 4 speed Auto. All of the other Autos were converted by a Ford authorized company and were the 3 speed, so you could order an Auto but it did not come from the factory like that.

That is my understanding anyway ......
