As suggested I've started a diary, hopefully I'll keep it up to date and not bore you all with dull updates! 18th December 2020 After considering reinvesting myself into Capri life I took the plunge and bought my 1983 mk3 2.0s. She's a running, road worthy, taxed, mot'D and standard little beauty! I knew I'd be buying her after the first visit. Dry stored for the last 15 years. Sold because she wasn't getting used by an owner her clearly loved her. 1st Jan-21 Since getting her the weathers been pretty crap so I've only done a few minor interior repairs. New tailgate struts, new wiring to rear heated windscreen earth, locks now all lubed and working. New wiper blades all round. Spare wheel refurbed. Rear seat brackets realigned and secured. Carb serviced and tuned. More on that later. Missing exhaust bracket replaced. 5th Feb-21 The battery wasn't holding a charge so replaced that last week and that sorted that. Next plan is a nice SS exhaust with a 2.5" tailpipe and a rumbly note.
Well done Mick.. writing the first notes is always the most daunting! depending where you are, I would go to an exhaust manufacturing outfit, and get them to build it on the car.. Good start - You've done enough already to be properly bonded with the car, and lined up for a proper summer with it. You're ahead of a lot of the world.

I have had a quote from a local Powerflow exhaust place and they build it onto the car. Thanks for the advice. BTW using my phone so uploading photos will need to wait for me to power up thd laptop
14th February 2021 I fitted the new parcel shelf I bought from the Capri Club along with the carpet inserts that I made myself and it looks great. I also made the pivot bar myself too and it works just fine. The original sunroof winder knob was missing so that was replaced with a very good bakalite ebay purchase. Another treat was a set of stainless steel Capri S door cill covers that went on and look sweet! It was cold but dry so I then took her for a quick ride out, 15 miles or so, before putting her away again.

Thanks Dacious, it was a nice work around job (bodge). Shelf and seal from the Capri Club, carpet runner from Aldi for £6 cut to fit and spray painted grey (carpet is plastic basically so took fine), pivot bar I made myself and strings off ebay for £4. Well chuffed
Some call it a bodge, I call it innovative! I too bought a shelf from Capri club, the original was hanging! Literally! I think I bought the bar too, can’t remember. re-used the rubber from original, I saved the carpets but they don’t quite fit. So I haven’t progressed further with that, like most of my work lol Keep going with the updates, love it
26th Feb 2021 Friday was a day of ups and downs; I took her to get a SS exhaust system checked out but unfortunately they weren't able to make one one due to the curve in the rear pipe above the axle being too tight for their pipe bender! A straight pipe was going to be too loud for my tastes so it was a no no. Powerflow Tamworth were very honest tbf and their fitter was almost as gutted as me! However, the weather was dry and sunny and suited a day out in the Capri so all was good in the end. Back to the web for more SS system options.
Gutted re exhaust Mick. yes mine is quite loud at certain revs, however no where near as loud as my last one! Sounded like a typical boy racer....I found myself apologising to people when I fired her up lol Good luck in your quest though sir
7th March 2021 The weather was good so I decided to do a few jobs on the passenger door - the window didn't go up and down properly and the cracked outer weather seal needed replacing. To be fair it was a relatively straightforward job; one of the wheels on the mechanism had come adrift so I popped it back in, cleaned and greased the mechanism and that sorted that and the new weather window seal from The Capri Club went in easier than the old one came out! All in a satisfying job done. Photos to follow.

Definitely, I'm ordering another outer seal and an inner seal to do the drivers door next. BTW any tips on how to remove the inner escutcheon from around the drivers mirror adjust lever? I can't see anything in my Haynes manual.
It's threaded on through the door card. Just press hard and turn counter clockwise, or use a soft poly/rubber type material for a better grip.
Carefully?? Lol So I did this not long ago....so let’s see if I remember.... Have you got a chrome coloured bit of plastic around it with some indentations north south east west? Think I used some long nose pliers (although I’m sure there’s something better, maybe cerclip pliers? and un screw. THINK there may be a plastic surround also? Grab hold of the thing before the adjuster slips into the door and save yourself a fight squirrelling in back up there
did you get to this yet mick? On mine I have a the chrome plastic surround, but would appear I’m the odd one out....
No not got to it this weekend as it was raining here yesterday so left the car inside. I did have a look at it gently rotate the bezel a little so it's all good to go next weekend. I have the inner and outer seals ready and waiting. I think mine is exactly like the one in your photo
Chrome 'flat' surround generally on flat panels as opposed to the more padded/indented Laser / Ghia style.. I found a flat chrome one in a box today, so now trying to find both my deep style. Chrome Ghia and Black Laser/28i surrounds so they may all reside together ..
My door cards are pretty 'flat' and unpadded, they're off a 2.0S. In great nick apart from the window seals though,

March to April 2021 updates I've been busy and done quite a bit in the last few weeks: Drivers door inner and outer window seals replaced, new locking wheel nuts on the alloys, coolant drained and flushed and new thermostat fitted, drivers and passenger mirrors cleaned, prepped and sprayed satin Black, engine bay degreased carefully and wiped down, radiator shield, bonnet support and bonnet trim all cleaned up and also painted satin black. Rear suspension dampers changed. Small rust bubbling at the bonnet trim edge cut back to metal, protected, filled and sprayed up. Just need to get some rubbing compound on that this week. Later this week electronic ignition and finally a SS exhaust. Also I'm planning to deep clean the upholstery and she'll be ready for summer. Oh yeah, she went round the clock too which was weird to see on the analogue dial! Photos to follow.
I bought the system that sits in the distributor off the Capri club,its being fitted tomorrow. I don't have the knowledge for this fettle
ah .. points replacement trigger .. 2 wires - Red & Black .. BLACK wire - goes exactly where your points wire goes at present. so if you have a rev-counter, that's the Green wire connector down side of the coil RED wire - goes to a full 12V ignition controlled feed - NOT the coil positive .... - my circuit drawing is in the technical archive - electrical section - ignition circuits
I just seen your post, thanks for that. Tbh I am colourblind so electrics has always been only on an emergency basis, lol! It was sorted and the garage owner is a Capri owner and a top fella and only charged me 20 quid so all is good.
April 11th update New SS exhaust fitted on Friday. Nice job by MIJ in Walsall. 2.5" tailpipe, mid sports sound which is lovely.
