Hi, has anyone got any pictures of the mk3 with the the overiders removed from the bumpers, been thinking about it but can't make my mind up on the look.
I didn't bother refitting mine to the bumpers after the build as I personally prefer them without. http://a67.tinypic.com/2eb9y6x.jpg http://a68.tinypic.com/azgug2.jpg
A few years back I was at a show down at the Hop Farm in Paddock Wood. A guy was showing his two Capris. Sat there side by side he was obviously quite proud of them. Me being me piped up and asked him about the clearly non standard over-riders on one of them. He did the old "You must be into Capris to notice that!" thing. Turns out he worked for a BUS company and they came off of a bus. Tbh a blind man would have noticed them they were HUGE. Did the job I suppose though.
Here's mine. Always intended fitting over riders to the new bumper but haven't come across a decent pair yet. Considering just painting the bolts black.
Does look nice and un-clutterd without them, Big J car looks good in all black with the clear lens indicators (which i have)may be nice with a black grill badge ??? Still in two minds at the moment, my cars off to the paint shop next week so i'm getting all the trim ready to go back on and the bumper is a bit pitted where the overiders were so will need a bit of work if i don't use them.
Living in the city and street parking over riders are a must but really gets my goat is when you do get a nudge it imprints on the bumper bar . And makes that dent .usually around the end of the iron . but that's a small price cause the overrider did it's job and takes out 2 INCHES of impact = flattened bumper bar .
I wouldn't mind some overiders on my ls as it might lessen the times the bumper has got bent by others and me!
Been looking through members cars at loads and loads of cars and i think i'm gonna keep the overiders on, they do add a bit of character and they do serve a purpose i suppose.
I'm new to Mk.3s, having had a Mk.1 GT/V6 since the early 'noughties'. I've just taken over ownership of a mates Mk.3 2.8i, (ex-FFL 262Y) sadly he passed away suddenly, without notice, aged just 56. Presently the car has full metal bumpers including the end caps, all one piece, front and back. A brand new set of bumpers with the plastic end caps and complete with overiders came with the car, he hadn't got around to fitting them. My question is what colour should the metal be painted, semi or full gloss black? And also, should the end caps be painted or not? I will be fitting them up once I get two pairs of the bumper end brackets, front and back. I will be installing the overiders too, for safety reasons in car-parks, if nothing else. Your thoughts and ideas would be great!
