is there a reason for the hand brake being dis-connected?
Got your work cut out there Andy, but at least it's got nice new shiny lowering blocks to help get you started.
I swapped out the axle as it was a LSD and chucked a std axle back in as a temporary means to wheel it around.....hence the lowering block kit ;o)
Have you got the headrests for this Andy or are you needing some as there were a set of fishnet ones on ebay last week that didn't sell.
Thanks, they're in the boot with the rest of the bits but I have these that will be going in. Not correct for the year but who cares as these are my fave colour and IMHO suit better than the black/brown check patterned ones
Hat off, looks like you mean business. That, and a bit of detailing, just what it needs.
Ha yes Gary.......just a "bit" of detailing and it should be fine
Should buff up nicely
Good luck with your buffing
the 2 Capris you have are a credit..
Capri II is the correct description.. the facelift (78series) needs a bit of a buff n polish, and I believe you have that heading for Doncaster & SM Classics..
your 77 is an absolute delight..
check the chassis plate for chassis type - you are in the most powerful of positions..
a 77 & a 78 together in the same driveway..
Thanks Alan, I just call it a Mk3 as a lot won't know what a '78 Series is. I've been saving hard and hopefully when Steve gets to have a look at it he won't deem it too far gone. I have a spare soda blasted roof with factory sunroof, doors, boot and bonnet for it and all are in good condition. As for the other panels I'll be digging deep as they'll be coming from Ex-Press Steel Panels. I also have a NOS xpack kit and wheels but I've decided not to go that route as I want it fairly standard looking. I appreciate I'm very luck with having both these of one and the first of the other as both are genuine and registered in 78 (Mk2 in Feb and Mk3 in March) and in this colour which happens to be my favourite too.
did they do the mk1 either face lift or pre facelift in this colour
O man that is a lovely interior
No just available in 1978
closest I can think of was the burnt ochre kinda colour, preFacelift..
Facelifts had Sebring (Orangy Red) and Daytona (Solid yellow) ... Dupont Colour chats show..
that Al is a real shame, matching set would look great in a photo and at shows
You mean I need to buy a mk1 too ?
but why not !!
I can't have 4.....she'd chop my bits off !!! This is one I'm on with now....84 2.0S
Update on the 3.0S.....it landed on elliecharlie2008's (steve Capri / www.SMClassicCars.co.uk) doorstep yesterday and in only a day its nearly fully stripped out ready for soda blasting.......
Can't wait to see the progress on this Andy, I've been looking at a few of Steve's jobs that he's done on Capri's and I'm well impressed with his work.
I know she looks a bit rough on the edges outside, but the inside don't look that bad for her age.
Well done Andy.. Gonna be some build
Looks to be in very capable hands, what's the timescale for there work and cost, if you don't mind sharing.
Steve's work is always top notch. He doesn't take short cuts with any of his work so what comes back should be fantastic.
Cheers Alan. He generally posts pics up along the way so i'll be looking forward to those.
We haven't really talked about duration other than a brief mention of around a year. I honestly have no clue what the final bill will be but I think i'd be naive to think it wasn't going to be at least £25k or maybe quite a bit more. A mint one is now selling for over £30k so my only hope is that when it's done i'm not in "negative equity" or not by too much....not that i'm doing this to sell anyway.
After a visit yesterday to see it fully stripped out, first impressions are, its not as bad as some Steve's done but still want lots of panels and parts.......suppose its par for the course as it's been parked up outside for almost 32yrs

Probably would've been easier to list what I don't need !! ...I don't need a logbook
I'll update this list from time to time as i'm sure there'll be plenty of the smaller things i've overlooked at this stage
It will be better than a new car, hopefully you can post plenty of pics as it's going to be a very thorough rebuild.
And its thanks to this forum that I have the car in the first place........
wonderful - and of course the logbook is bang on - Capri II - the chassis ID on the VinTag will confirm - GECP
That's next on the list later today
That's one of the little things he missed in the list, a new VIN. "GECP" becomes "ANDY".
It really will feel like it should
Also I'll be fitting that boot trim you very kindly posted over a few years ago...this car will be the one that deserves it.
Nice one Andy. Great colour for a Capri. Nice to save another S model aswell. I will keep an eye it. Your at the right place.
