stumbeled over this now.
Buggers, thought the spate of thefts had stopped. Hope it gets found.
Hope you're keeping well Del!
I hope its found in one piece
Bet thats the end of that then.
All good this side down under mate and the same to you. Luckily it wasn't my cappa dude. :thumbup1:
Its a fact of life unfortunately, Another great Capri lost to sheer greed. Finn.
Same old story, trailered away, broken into pieces and what will the bad guys make out of it? Bit of money for the worn out turbo, worn out bills and worn out lsd. Oh and a bit of money for the interior, amazing how it is even worth doing. The rest of it is standard capri and worth very little. There needs to be a better approach to parts buying to stop the parts business. Can't you get all the worthwhile bits engraved with the registration?
All my cars are security dna smart watered on all major parts. When I first took my polices out with Carol Nash Classic Insurance they supplied you with a kit for each car.
If this 280 is broken for parts, hopefully being a rare model with unique parts it will be hard for the culprits to sell on without being exposed by the capri/car forum enthusiasts.
As Shaw Taylor use to say, "Keep em peeled!"
Anyone know the reg of the vehicle, as that looks like the photos of one of Doctor Brooklands had for sell a few years ago? As I tried to buy it but was sold before I could get to see it.
Will definitely be keeping a look out especially on ebay where I spend alot of time looking at brookie bits
Call me cynical but I dont think this will be broken. I imagine a rotten 280 or the v5 that was for sale on ebay last year will miraculously appear restored.
Devastated for the owner, trackers suddenly become a sound investment.
I wouldn't trust a tracker now as you can buy a gismo that you can plug into the cigarette lighter that blocks the gsm signal, I know this works as my mate uses one in his trackered works vehicle when he wants to nip off the job without his bosses knowing. And also stops his phone from working while inside the vehicle!
I was shocked that the amount of money that you pay yearly for tracker yet a cheap £30 gadget makes the system totally useless!
Best thing to do is concrete a security locking post in front of the vehicle or even better do a Dan Tanna (Vegas) old tv program) and keep your vehicle inside your living room! (showing my age a bit)
We are getting to the stage now where these cars are worth more complete than in pieces. A good condition 280 is worth a fair amount of money, but it's parts are actually not worth that much, old LSDs and bills aren't really a great investment for anyone, when they can get a superior brand new alternative. So maybe this won't be broken, maybe it's one of those shipping container deals, or like you say reshelling a rotten one.
