Hi Folks, I took the petrol tank out of Charlie to clean and paint it. Amongst the bits on the work bench was this green seal. Is this off a Capri (possibly boot or petrol tank) or just a stray seal I have got mixed up with the Capri parts? 24762B49-8A29-4931-A7B3-3772DF0E4798.jpeg

Looks like it could be the seal on the petrol tank itself, where the filler pipe enters the tank. If it fits into the hole in the tank then that's what it is. Finn.

The diameter is 40mm and to small for the filler pipe. The only bit of the fuel tank it fits is the breather at the highest point of the tank but it doesn’t seem to serve a purpose there as there is a seal already in place. I found in a previous post the breather is the same as a Jeep and no sign of the green seal.

I would sell it but the anxiety and worry that I may need it would get the better of me!!

Found a tank for sale on eBay and it looks as if the breather does have a seal on the very outside as well as the black seal that goes into the tank, could this be the correct place?

its definitey not the roll-over valve seal, totally different profile ..
    is it rubbery or plasticky..
does it fit in the big round hole where the wiring loom enters the headlamp bowl?
If it does, wheres the one for the other side..?

Not been near the front of the car yet. I know it’s not the valve seal but it does fit the outside of the seal and goes under the lip perfectly but as I said I can’t see why it would fit there.

Roger! Honestly, this is a serious subject. I was going to say any hole is a goal but thought that might be misconstrued. Finn.
